BREAKING NEWS:
Conservatives with Attitude! insiders are informing us that Congressman John Murtha will DROP OUT of the running for the number 2 spot in the House as Majority Leader.
Even if he does stay in the race, he will fall short by a few votes.
This will serve as a big blow to Nancy Pelosi.

I hope he gets it. What a ripe (political) target that would be.

He's not dropping out, he's not cutting and running. You Freepers need to get with the program. This is a responsible redeployemnt. Do not question his patriotism! I repeat do not question is patriotism.

Well, Miz Pelosi surely handled her first leadership test poorly. Ol' "Cut 'n Run" Murtha knew he couldn't win, just like he "knows" we can't win in Iraq, so he did what comes naturally to him.

This will be HUGE blow to Pelosi. If Hoyer becomes Majority Leader, This will force the Rats to lead from the center.

They still have plenty of time to put the moonbat-in-chief on center stage... after all, Sheehan's going to live for 1000 years!

But, but ...... he HAD THE VOTES!
I suspect John Kerry is involved, somehow...Murtha had the votes, before he didn't have them!
To: areafiftyone
Ah, that was close. The vote is today.

Alcee Hastings is the former federal judge who was impeached for corruption. He's on Nancy's short list to chair the house intelligence committee.

CHRIS MATTHEWS, MSNBC ANCHOR: Now that theyre in power, what can Democrats do about Iraq? Can they push for a timetable to leave? Can they cut off funding for the war? Who will be their leading voice in the fight? Will it be Nancy Pelosis rival Steny Hoyer or her friend Jack Murtha? We begin with the man who wants to be majority leader, Pennsylvania Congressman Jack Murtha. Thank you Mr. Murtha for coming here and nowhere else.
So lets get to questions that everybody wants answered. First of all, its a secret ballot tomorrow, right?
REP. JOHN MURTHA (D), PENNSYLVANIA: Right.
MATTHEWS: Are you going to win?
MURTHA: Were going to win, weve got the votes.
MATTHEWS: Youve got them?
MURTHA: Weve got the votes.
MATTHEWS: Eyeball to eyeball, youve got them?
MURTHA: Eyeball to eyeball.

She didn't make much of an effort beyond issuing her letter of support.
Not true. The letter of support was seen as no big deal but then Sunday she started making phone calls to all of the dem Representatives. She even called in one newbie (Walz-MN I think) and voiced her support for Murtha and then asking what committee assignment he should get.
Heavy campaigning and blackmail are not just going through the motions.

He just told Matthews last night he had the votes. It wouldn't be the first time he'd be wrong.....nor the last.Gotta be able to accurately count them votes if you want to be Majority Leader, John!

FNC says voting is underway.
Perhaps you need to ask the Mods to lock the thread and start a new one when the results are known.
