I wanted to share with all of you an email I received today from my son who is a Grad Student teaching English Comp and works in the writing center. This is his take on what is wrong with some of our college students today and why they cannot write.
Also believe this is a perfect example of why we cannot allow a Democrat to get back in the White House. We have to have accountability in our schools for the sake of the students. This is a perfect example of Dems being for the children but not expecting anything out of those students. Sad commentary on the Clinton years and their focus on education which was a dismal failure. They talked the talked but never walked the walk.
I will add union teachers and not being able to fire them when their students don't perform as part of the problem.

Had they been white girls would you have mentioned their color?

All Clinton did was to keep schools from being held accountable for anything. He also threw more federal money to the NEA so in turn they could donate to his campaigns
Where I come from .. its called money laundry .. though I'm sure the Dems have a fancier name for it

While the Democrats bear plenty of blame for the abysmal state of our government schools, where has been the impetus for change on the other side of the aisle? Or did I just miss the article about the Department of Education being disbanded?
And more importantly, where are the parents in this equation? Home education is a viable option as are private schools. Yet the majority of parents elect to send their children to the government schools. The end result of those decisions are predictable.

Educators seem to hate republicans because they dare to make sure that schools are doing their jobs.Absolutely. We the taxpayers are paying the educators to spread their filth.

The system works, and works well. Teachers get jobs, Dems get votes. All else is beside the point.
Actually, it works better because now the girls won't be able to support themselves so welfare workers get jobs, Dems get more votes. Girls then have kids, need money so they vote Dems.
Perpetual motion vot'n machine.

These girls do NOT belong in college. If you can't do college level work, which has already been dumbed down considerably, there is no point of being there!
But this isn't a new phenomenon; sadly, it's been going on for many decades.

Sadly, the legacy of ignorance didn't begin with the Clinton administration. In the early 80's I went to the Austin Community College tutoring lab for help with my calculus. While waiting my turn with the tutor, I helped out with students having trouble with lower maths and general composition. Though I was a "C" student in high school (13 years earlier), I was astounded at the ignorance I saw there. The era of new math and the calculator destroyed any pretense of learning the "times tables", and so students were unable to perform any simple multiplication or division in their heads. Manual long division was nearly impossible for them to grasp. Essays were written with incomplete sentences and paragraphs that made no sense whatsoever. It was heart rending.
In my opinion, it began the second Senator Joe McCarthy was purged.

That's been going on for years now and it's not just the black kids who are suffering. Look up "whole language" and "whole math" in Google and use your imagination.

I'm glad you pinged me to your son's rant. I feel an equal sense of rage at these things, and desire justice for the terrible wrong being done to our children in government schools, and mercy for the little ones, that somehow our loving Father will deliver them from the lies and shenanigans of the leftist power structure - not only in our schools, but in our press. I can't call it ineptitude, for that conveys some innocence; it is a deliberate dumbing-down and indoctrination in wrong things by a force of wicked intent. I really see it that way.
this is a perfect example of why we cannot allow a Democrat to get back in the White House
I think, on the contrary, this rant points out the exemplar of Democrats' gains in power.

The idea that the President of the United States, regardless of party, is somehow responsible for the "failure of education" is the real shame here. The feds should be out of the school system altogether.

I have seen much the same problem in the basic sciences. The school systems have neglected science and math education for many of the students. When the students arrive at institutions of higher education, they really struggle with some of the required science courses.
There has also been a problem with parents failing to encourage their children to obtain an training in basic science. The attitude seems to be, the student will graduate to become a lawyer, secretary, nurse, psychologist, physician, dentist, etc.; then why does the student need to know physics, chemistry, etc.
It is really unfair to the students.
