Just don't give up hope, he not number 1, just number 2. Mitch is an excellent choice for number 1.

Minority Whip will now take on a whole new meaning. In this case, more like minority-whipped.

Lott is conservative, smart and pissedSince when?
Just WHO do you think he is pissed at? The dems? No, his lifelong desire is approval from the dems and the power that he receives as they court his assistance. He is pissed at the president and will actively work against the conservative agenda.
A stupid move proving that our GOP has been bought off.

Allow me to say, "If Trent Lott would have been in charge this whole time, we wouldn't wouldn't be in this mess". True - we'd probably only have 45 Senators at this point. Lott is awful; at times so bad that one wonders whether he's in the Dems' pocket.

Apparently they are incapable of grasping what their recent loss of power was communicating to them...
I posted this in another thread earlier today:
The GOP can't even figure out why they lost both Chambers in 06.
So, how are they going to figure out how to win in 08?

Message to base: business as usual.
Mitch McConnell is not business as usual. Trent Lott may or may not be the best, but I've corresponded with McConnell pretty extensively. The good news of him becoming minority leader is the real story here.

Well he's not prefectNot perfect? My gawd, the most critical change needed in Washington is to curtail the porkers, and he's the GOP king of pork.

Minority Whip will now take on a whole new meaning. Only if it includes chains and leather.

Why all the long faces? Lott is certainly not going to be loyal to W and it looks like we're gonna need that with amnesty and possibly a gun ban on the way.

I think it's time to privately bombard the White House, Pubbie House and Senate leadership and RNC national offices ... somebody's not getting the message. I'm starting to realize, shockingly, that there must be a major perceptional disconnect somewhere .
This whole election scenario .. from start to today's events .. is emblematic of a delusion and dissembling I can't even describe.
And, you watch ... Lott will be heard to take a snipe or 2 at W .. he's a petty, vengeful pufferhead who will revert to type (notice I was being nice ;).
Back to my saner job .. LOL. Never thought I say that.

Wow I didnt realize that. Even the better. Well I think its a good choice.
Being Whip is not the easiet of jobs. Also, Trent Lott is aprob one of the most respected Senators up there. PLus he is honorable , decent , and honest.
He has also been a tireless worker for the GOP acrross the country.
His only drawback is he went to Ole Miss lol
I have to admit its a shame that many have such short term memories on that.
