Yeah - the stupid congress read the defeat as a defeat over Iraq.
They never ever considered it was a defeat over them. Wonder what they think an approval rating in the teens meant?
Well - "teach the GOP a lesson" ghouls are you smiling now? Happy? You sure did "teach" them didn't you.
Higher taxes, pullout of Iraq, weakening of America and President Bush, loss of conservative judges, socialized medicine, amnesty.
You forgot that the dems know how to push through their agenda no matter what.

Lott is the Minority Whip? And here I thought you needed at least some backbone for a job like that...my mistake.

Lott can count votes. Thats what the Whip does. He knows the system inside and out.. and can hold discipline. McConnell can face an incredible Wind and keep standing.
Lott will still have a bug up his tail and that works for us rather than against. He has been building his way back to power by savvy and powerplaying. Most would have retired. Lott decided to fight his way back. This is what we need at the moment.

Is there an Island or two in the Caribbean that Conservatives can buy and start a new nation? Election night was tough enough. But to watch the GOP drift into insanity this pass week is even worse. Trent Lott, guest worker nonsense, what's next?

Lott's knowledge of rules and procedures is only outdone by McConnell's knowledge of same. I suspect that our "A" team will finally be out in front fighting the good fight.

I see your point, but it isn't exactly comforting that the vote was so close. It indicates that there is still a lot of resentment. Well McConnell was unanimous.
My instincts tell me that Alexander was the WH choice, like Frist. This was pushback. The next 2 years will be entertaining.
Now if we could just get Lott to stay away from tv cameras and lighten up on the pork....

Lott knows the rules and tricks in the Senate to help tie up the senate and stop HArry and Chuckie froming running over the GOP.
Wasn't Lott the one who made that deal with Daschle for Super Majorities and filibustering in segments?
