Earlier this week we learned that Rudolph Giuliani has filed papers to form an exploratory committee. That's the first step to running for president. Well .. .it didn't take long for the religious right to announce that up with this they will not put. Colleen Parro, the head of some group called the Republican National Coalition for Life says that Giuliani is "absolutely unacceptable under any circumstances." The two issues she cited? Homosexuals and abortion.
Now ... what was it I said earlier this week that made so many zealots so unhappy? Oh yeah .. it was something about us needing a political movement dedicated to individual and economic liberty, limited government with a strong defense, cutting government spending, school choice and strong capitalist instincts .. and one that had no desire to force the people of this country to live under any particular codification of religious dogma.
Good luck on that.
By advocating abortion, liberal-tarians are really saying they support summary execution without a trial...
Screw them...
Sheep need leaders, real men do not...
Rudy would do what he could to make the GOP pro-abortion:

Republican Big-Wigs Support Pro-Abortion Event in NY
Pro-abortion Governor George Pataki and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also supports unrestricted abortion, are co-chairs of the 2000 Choice Award Presentation to be held on May 30 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. The event is sponsored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition, a group that is campaigning for the removal of the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform.
Boortz is not only pro-abortion, but belittled pro-lifers on his radio show, which was the last time I ever listened to him.
Don't know why some people can't accept the fact that we can find a person who is strong on fighting terrorism BUT NOT pro-abortion, including partial birth infanticide; pro-ILLEGAL immigration; pro-special rights for gays (even marched in a gay-pride parade); pro-gun control.
Rudy would be weak on terrorism, because he is weak on borders, and here's an example:
http://www.ibisnetwork.com/giuliani/text/imm124.html
"Two days ago I announced that the City of New York has filed suit against the federal government. We are challenging a provision of the recently enacted federal Welfare and Immigration Law....Our lawsuit contends that the new federal law violates the Tenth Amendment of the United States Constitution by invalidating New York City's "Executive Order 124."
"For those who may not know, "Executive Order 124" is New York City's policy regarding undocumented immigrants. This order was issued seven years ago by Mayor Ed Koch and then later reissued by Mayor Dinkins and then by me. "Executive Order 124" protects undocumented immigrants in New York City from being reported to the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service while they are using City services that are crucial for their health and safety, and critical for the health and safety of the entire city."
So the guy has a sense of humor and enjoys a costume party. So what?
I find nothing humorous about a grown man dressing up like a whore...
I have no use for Mr. Boortz, he is constantly bashing religious folks.
I am an atheist and nothing irritates me more in a political sense than somebody who has nothing more than ad hominem arguments to oppose a pro-life position... Abortion is a ritual murder performed on an altar of conceit before an idol of vanity.
Boortz should have stuck with the Fair Tax idea and kept his mouth shut... I do not trust him so much now...
How is opposing Giuliani based on issues or his behavior "forcing people to live under a religious dogma"? Have we reached the point where Christians are no longer allowed to even speak about issues anymore because the might be reasoning from their faith perspective? Is that what the Founders had in mind.
If I am understanding Neal on this, I disagree with him.
Add to that gun control. Buh bye, Rudy.
Patton wasn't known as a party guy. Make up your mind, pal.
...desire to force the people of this country to live under any particular codification of religious dogma.
Is abortion "religious dogma" when one is against it, Mr. Boortz, but not when one is promoting it?
Roe v. Wade, Doe v. Bolton, the laws that force taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, etc., are all "codification of religious dogma." Not Christian religious dogma, but religious dogma nonetheless.
Webster's:
Religion:
set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe; something a person believes in and follows devotedly.Dogma:
a system of principles or tenets; a specific tenet or doctrine authoritatively put forth; prescribed doctrine; an established belief or principle.
To conclude that
1) because you are not an openly religious person ("I feel that religion is a very personal issue and I sincerely try not to push my beliefs on others"); and
2) you see nothing wrong with abortion and
3) therefore your position on abortion is not religious dogma is
false, erroneous, and frankly not logical. I pray you will reexamine your position.
From your bio page, Mr. Boortz:
Imagine what a wonderful world we would have if everyone just tried to live their own lives according to their religious principals and spent a bit let [sic] time trying to tell other folks how to live theirs.
Abortion goes way beyond "telling other folks how to live their lives."
Abortion says, "you're life isn't worth squat to us, and we can prove it."
You bet! Excellent post.

There are atheists who volunteer for pro-life organizations, which goes to show us that abortion is against secular morals, as well as religious morals.
I like Sean Hannity, but don't understand how he can be such good friends with Boortz.
Rudy is a gun grabber. Ditto for Mitt. I can't vote for either of them.
If Rudi Guiliani is the nominee, the religious conservatives will stay home. If they stay home, the Republicans cannot retake either house of Congress.
Bill
I am inclined to support Tancredo but, before committing, I need to know much more about him besides his very principled stand on illegal aliens.
Morality and all of those associated ideals are rooted entirely in the presupposition some higher power defines what is correct for human behavior...
Abortion is a summary execution without a trial and without conviction by a unanimous jury of peers... especially since, without any doubt, the accused is totally innocent of any crime...
This requires no "morality" to see, it is logical, self-evident and goes against all Constitutional standards governing the taking of life.
