Unfit for Majority Leader
Washington Post ^ | 15 November 2006 | Ruth Marcus

Posted on 11/15/2006 4:41:17 AM PST by shrinkermd

The videotape is grainy, dark and devastating. The congressman and the FBI undercover agents -- the congressman thinks they represent an Arab sheik willing to pay $50,000 to get immigration papers -- are talking business in the living room of a secretly wired Washington townhouse.

Two other congressmen in on the deal "do expect to be taken care of," the lawmaker says. But for the time being -- and he says repeatedly that he might change his mind and take money down the road -- he'd rather trade his help for investment in his district, maybe a hefty deposit in the bank of a political supporter who's done him favors.

"I'm not interested -- at this point," he says of the dangled bribe. "You know, we do business for a while, maybe I'll be interested, maybe I won't, you know." Indeed, he acknowledges, even though he needs to be careful -- "I expect to be in the [expletive] leadership of the House," he notes -- the money's awfully tempting. "It's hard for me to say, just the hell with it...."

'll be quite entertaining for the next two years.

He'll be even MORE entertaining if he doesn't. He won't go quietly into the night, if you know what I mean.

Where was all this outrage when Jack Murtha was running for his House seat?

I don't know, but someone needs to copy these articles and put them all over his district. On buses, in coffee shops, on doorsteps, everywhere.

it only reinforces the fact that the enemedia is still very strong in our country and the majority of them use their power to shape our future with their liberal agenda.

Yes - and what makes them so strong? Those that insist on watching and reading them. I refuse to give them one point in the ratings game or one cent for their printed fecal matter.

Those Freepers you call knowledgeable who believe this information just came out two days ago arent very knowledgeable, Its been posted in here over and over for the last two months. Diana Irey used it over and over in her campaign.

No: I disagree emphatically. Any Pa. voter who didnt know was too stupid to vote. They knew and they elected him anyway.

It's very simple - the extreme left got what they wanted out of Murtha (i.e. the defeat of Bush at the ballot box last week), and now they're throwing him over the side. He has served his purpose. The Compost is merely doing their duty as serving as the mouthpiece for the hard left.

Personally, I think it couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.

OK, where are our guys screaming "culture of corruption?" If the tables were turned you would have a dozen democrats in front of the TV cameras screaming about the corruption that continues and is about to be promoted.

I don't disagree with you that the GOP needs leaders with a backbone, but at this point, so soon after the election, it would sound more like sour grapes, and the dems would turn it against us.

I'd like to think that we're better than that and show the electorate that we're are better than that. Recall the "Official Seal of The Democrat Party", is a bawling baby.

For the time being, it might be better to grab a bag of popcorn, sit back, and watch the show. Gather up all sorts of info, let them show themselves for what they are - criminals in every sense of the word - and then hit them hard about a year from now for the run-up to '08.

I didn't think I needed to use a sarcasm tag after the reference I made.

Its been posted in here over and over for the last two months.

LOL! Really?????

Diana Irey used it over and over in her campaign.

I am PAINFULLY aware of that!

Any Pa. voter who didnt know was too stupid to vote. They knew and they elected him anyway.

It is difficult to know about something or someone if you never get the word.
Do a search on the local papers and read about how they handled the campaign in the district.
Many didn't even know the name of his "Republican challenger" - as the Enemedia referred to Diana Irey.

Heck, the news break during Rush the day after the election referred to her as Diana IrAAAAAAy.

BTW, there a lot of "people" that are "too stupid to vote" around the country. They include illegals, muti-voters, the dead, felons and yes, even some of their pets.

Interesting reading here.

Oh God forbid! Better to lose seats by .3% representing a couple hundred votes out of 2.5 million, than to fight corruption and fraud. We wouldn't want to upset the Enemedia or their political party, the demonRATS.

I'd like to think that we're better than that and show the electorate that we're are better than that

I'm part of the electorate and all it has shown me is that they are stupid, not better.

Republican lawmakers say that ties between Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and his brother’s lobbying firm, KSA Consulting, may warrant investigation by the House ethics committee. KSA directly lobbied Murtha’s office on behalf of seven companies, and a Murtha aide told a defense contractor that it should retain KSA to represent it, according to the LA Times.

Too Late. They should have brought this up when they had the whip hand. Nothing will happen as long as Dems are in control. They'll thoroghly investigate all claims against Pubbies, and make sure they get weeks of front-page media coverage, but they'll never go after Dem corruption.

I see you live in PA. Do you live in the 12th District? I do not see your name on the prestigious IREY ping list. Did you forget to follow this race?

Why did you ask the 2nd question before I answered the First one

The bottom-line for the media is that if it helps "she who shall remain nameless" in some way, then they will run it.

Expect them to start turning on Dingy Harry as well.

Thing is the dems are so corrupt everybody has something on the others --So they stuck with each other

Only thing that can overcome that is the MSM if they want

But it may be the Tar Baby effect
MSM is stuck with what they wrought for the most part

The dems are like a bunch of high school seniors . . .

You give them too much credit.

Good point...but my guess is that (1) the MSM don't even go to the Repubs for comment on this whereas that's ALL they did with the Dems...always running to see what their response was to something the REpubs would do..(2) if the Republicans set up a press conference (which is also what the Dems did) the press would not show up to cover it...

I see. To Democrats, Tom DeLay was a corrupt Majority Leader, who had to be driven from his post and eventually his seat.

But not Jack Murtha.
