"Cut and Run" won them the election. Now they decide it is caput. It would have been nice if the NYT had asked the RATS really what they intended to do.
In the meantime the NYT endorsed no Republican in the last election and is wallowing in joy since there are no Republican constitutional officers in NY State, no senators and very few Republicans in the House of Representatives.
They are taking the country and themselves over a cliff while claiming the best of intentions.

All of a sudden the NYT sees reasons to stay!
To: shrinkermd
Yeah...their cut and run strategy didn't last very long, did it?
Just long enough to win an election.

Suddenly, even their military 'experts' have changed their minds. Typical dim flip-flops.

My goodness...this isn't brain surgery! Of *course* we can pull our troops out.We could probably do it in 90 days.
Of course, doing so would have consequences for Western Civilization that would prove to be cataclysmic....but it would strengthen the RATS,at least for a while.

OK, NY Times. Thanks for the analysis. Now what was it again that Bush and Rumsfield were doing wrong?

General Zinni said, it would make more sense to consider deploying additional American forces over the next six months to regain momentum Haha. Direct contradiction to Levin.
Oh, my...how are the Dems going to appease their anti-war base now?

One of the most resonant arguments in the debate over Iraq holds that the United States can move forward by pulling its troops back, as part of a phased withdrawal...I wouldn't call that argument "resonant." I think "redolent" is a more accurate characterization.

What did you expect? I've maintained that the core of the Democratic party only cares about two issues: abortion rights and gay rights. Everything else is a distraction.
To: shrinkermd
Won't all the suckers who voted for the Dems because of their promises for troop withdrawal be surprised.

Some military experts said that while the American military is stretched thin, the number of American troops in Iraq could be increased temporarily by perhaps 10,000 or more, in addition to the 150,000 or so already there by prolonging combat tours.Sounds like the astute "military experts" referenced in this article have taken a page out of McCain's book. The DBM wants McCain to be the GOP nominee in 2008 in the worst way. Be very wary of what the DBM wants as it will usually be contrary to the best interests of the GOP .

Now the NY Times comes out with this, also comes out with the dirt on Murtha and Abramoff is going to reveal the Democrats he has dealt with. Where was all this before the election, hmmmm? The whole lot of them, politicians and media whores alike, disgust me.

It's all BS. I haven't heard anyone dare mention the only strategy that has a chance of stabilizing Iraq. That is to choose a side and help them wipe out the opposition, and by wipe out, I mean kill. It will save lives in the long run.
Forget human rights, democracy, and freedom for Iraqi's. They can't live peacefully under those circumstances. They only way to bring peace and stability to Iraq is to rule it with an iron fist just as Saddam did.
Iraq will continue to be a violence racked hell hole until this happens, and it is our fault for thinking Muslims could live in a peaceful democratic society like we do. Muslims are incapable of that, and we should have known, and planned for that reality before we invaded Iraq.

Well, if you believe there is any way the US can achieve any of it's remaining major objectives in Iraq, then I suppose one can take some pleasure in the fact that Congressional Democrats will now be thrashing about in the tar-pit right along with the Administration.
But if like me you seem to be observing a project with enormous sunk costs consuming increasing quantities of limited resources with little prospect of success and no end in sight under either the present management or it's potential successors, it just makes you want to bang your head on the desk that much harder.

Now that the election is over, the NY Times can reduce their Propaganda Alert Level to Code Yellow. This allows them to print articles like this. They'd never have printed this prior to the election because it makes Bush's policies look better.
