President Rudy Giuliani?
Forbes ^ | 11/14/2006 | Nathan Vardi

Posted on 11/14/2006 11:02:49 AM PST by Dark Skies

Giuliani has been carefully preparing for this moment. He spent the past election season accumulating a reservoir of good will among Republicans, campaigning hard for Republican candidates from Oregon to New Hampshire. He was particularly adept at raising money for those candidates and has established himself as one of few presidential hopefuls capable of raising the $100 million or so that is seen as necessary to win the White House. At the moment, he is getting help from Anne Dickerson, who ran President Bush’s highly successful Pioneer and Ranger fundraising machine in 2004.

Giuliani has allied closely with Bush & Co. He made a high profile speech at the 2004 Republican National Convention and has gone on the road to stump with President Bush. There has also been speculation, started by the Washington Post's Kathleen Parker, that Ken Mehlman, the outgoing Republican National Committee chairman and former Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign manager, will be joining the Giuliani camp.

You WANT Rudy for some unfathomable reason. Is it because you think he looks smashing in drag?

We may as well just admit that Rudy has better gams than Her Thighness. They'll trot out the pix to prove it sooner or later. So there's one point in Rudy's favor.

Notice how fast you can find the facts and how the other side tries to pass off lies for facts?

In the end isn't gun control and abortion states rights issues and something those of us believing in smaller government don't want DC messing with?

you're exactly right

The Giuliani liberals will cause a split in the GOP, then try to blame it on the conservative wing of the party for not jumping in and supporting him lockstep, just as they are trying to blame the conservatives for not winning this past week's election.

Minor correction.

Last week it was primarly the Libertarians fault.

You opened up the secret memo too early as starting this week it is the conservatives fault. Now that Rudy is officially in the running.

Rudy already has my vote! I think he'd be a great person to lead this country. In the times that we live in, we need a strong leader who understands the enemies that we face, and who won't be afraid to confront them head on. 'America's Mayor', should become America's President!

Could that chance be taken? If Hilliary won NY in 2008, we wold be sunk with Rudy heading the ticket.

Both the Presidential Candidate and the VP HAS to be able to bring a state into the win column.

Ala Kennedy Johnson in 1960.

[ Rudy is a leader, not a follower. ]

He is also a "liberal" on almost any issues that count..
Liberal meaning socialist, leftist, RINO, confused democrat...

Why not just go get the actual video from the Donohue interview, and the CNN Inside Politics video and listen?

Seems like Rockefeller Republicans are making a comeback right here on Free Republic. And Rudy`s candidacy for Prez is the catalyst leading the liberal charge. Even though the Rockefeller-wing of the GOP was basically killed off when Reagan came to office in 1980, with Bush43 pushing the party left, and Giuliani pretending not to be a liberal, the campaign for the GOP nomination is about to get real ugly. Its conservatives versus liberals and moderate-centrists. Its the 1970`s all over again! LOL

There is a ocean of differences between Rudy and Hillary. If you don't know just how devestating Hillary (and again Bill) will be for this country, start now, check out all the books on the Clinton's and start reading. Don't fall for the public persona. There is no greater camelion than Hillary Clinton.

Excellent post. Excellent, excellent, excellent. Debating social issues is a luxury in time of peace and prosperity. We are fighting a WAR right now. We do not have this luxury.

He will win in Oklahoma and that is the center of the Heartland. You obviously have never seen him or heard him speak in person. He will take any question, gives a speech that crosses all age groups and politics because he is all about wanting what's best for America and wants to follow the lead of Ronald Reagan -- tough stance on defense is the #1 priority for America.

When you speak for the heartland, you certainly do not speak for those of us who have had the privilege of listening to this man and done the researach on him. He can and will win in Middle America.

Wow, excellent post. Very eloquently stated. I'm still not sure how I feel about Rudy as a presidential candidate, but you've given me alot to think about. Thank you.

"Rudy is a leader, not a follower."

Based on his unsuccessful love life, I would say he is definitely a follower, and we all know what he was following.

Are you happy the RATS are in charge because of your protest vote?

And voting for a liberal RINO is different how again?

If FR is any example: we are doomed. I would love a true Conservative in 2008, unfortunately we have to wait until 2016 because no matter what, a strongly conservative politician cannot win this coming election. We need to run a popular charismatic candidate to stand a chance.
