Lott Will Make Leadership Bid (Seeks Minority Whip Position vs Lamar Alexander)
Political Wire ^ | November 13, 2006

Posted on 11/13/2006 7:48:27 PM PST by RWR8189

As rumored since last year, Political Wire has learned that Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) will run for Senate Minority Whip. He launched a "quiet campaign" just before the midterm elections in anticipation that the previous holder of the position, Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), would lose his re-election race.

However, Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) declared last week he has lined up the votes for the leadership post.

If Lott wins I guess that means the party moves closer to affirmative action.

You would think that Lott would stil be a little embarrassed over the poor job he did last time and would stil have his tail tucked between his legs.

His coming out again means one of two things , Either he has grown a set, or he is beyond embarrassment.

Is Lamar any better then Lott? I cannot believe Lott thinks he can slide back into a Leadership slot. After his disastrous "power sharing" agreement in 2001 I do not thinks we can afford him. The LAST thing we need is a "bi Partisan" type in Leadership! Past time for new blood leading the Senate Republicans

I think Lott would be much more trouble for McConnell than Alexander would.

Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) will run for Senate Minority Whip

This should be used as another example of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over yet expecting different results.

I would be Lott will be endorsed by most Democrats.

I opt for the latter. Mr. Lott was the primary reason I left the GOP in 98, with his decision not to have a "real trial" and vote for those with the (R) behind thier names as a non-aligned citizen.

Amazing. The Senate, which flatters itself on being the more august body, "the world's greatest deliberative body," is in reality a morally and intellectually bankrupt gerontocracy which cannot generate sufficient integrity even to begin to fulfill its historic role.

Harry Reid, Trent Lott, Fat Kennedy, Schmuckie Schumer, Lamar!, Specter and Hillary, the Dishonor Roll goes on and on.

Craven beggars, all of them. Not worth the powder to blow them all away.

People criticize Lott and he jellyfish spine, but least Lott didnt lose the majority (okay Jumpin jeffords excepted).

Frankly, of the two Lamar is more wimpy and more moderate. So I'd prefer Lott. Check their votes on immigration. Lott was non-squishy, and Lamar was semi-squishy (not a full squish at least). Lott's record is one of the top dozen or so conservatives.

I am pleased with McConnell as leader, but at this point would prefer Kyl or PETE SESSIONS to have more prominence in #2 or #3. And I hear John Ensign will replace Dole in the slot of running NRSC. Good. Judging by the results, and blown races like Fla, wasted money like RI (gee, we could have used that in MT, eh???????), I doubt anyone could do worse.

Don't forget other octogenerian blowhard freaks like Byrd and Lautenburg. Then there are the super-rich faux populists like Feinstein and Rockefellar (and Kennedy).

And then the leftist looneys frozen in amber and still keeping the McGovernite faith, ie Harkin, Feingold, Leahy, soon to be joined by real socialist Bernie sanders.

And let's not forgot to mention how shallow and stupid some of them are.

I mean folks like Boxer, Cantwell, Stabenow, that Nelson bozo from Florida, and Mark Dayton (now gone), and couple of our lesser RINO bulbs Linc Chaffee and Susan Collins.

Dang ... compared to most of that crowd, helmut-hair Lott seems like a frickin' genius.

The Senate is a turd bowl. Chester will be the final nail in the RNC coffin ... if he's reinstated.

Anyone is a step up from Bill Frist. Is he still going to run for the GOP nomination?

He should save his money ..
