My Sons Mother Cried
On November 4, 1979 The American Embassy in Tehran was seized by approximately 500 Iranian students. At about 6:30am that morning, Muslim student followers of the Imams line gathered and reviewed their battle plans. Metal cutters where used to sever the embassy gate chains. With the Marine guards vastly outnumbered, the embassy was easily overrun. Initially 66 people were taken hostage of which 52 remained hostages for 444 days. The world was in turmoil.
My sons mother cried.
She wasnt a mother yet but soon to be. Why would I want to bring a child into this savage world? she would ask herself, she would ask others. She was afraid.
On November 20, 1979, my son was born.
My sons mother cried for joy.
He was an impatient little guy weighing in at just six pounds. This is another human being, totally dependent on me! she said. Can I be the kind of mother he so richly deserves? she would ask herself. Will I know what to do?
One week later he was admitted to the hospital. His liver was immature; he required a blood exchange. Clothed only in a surgical mask as a makeshift diaper, and with his father by his side, this little bub began his exchange. As his new blood began to fill his body, he held his dads little finger with his tiny hand and suckled feverishly on the pacifier held by his father. He knew we were with him.
My sons mother cried.
It was so painful for her to see her son lying there in the surgical room, not knowing if he had suffered any brain damage. She was afraid.
Nearly 27 years later, on November 8, 2006, my son received orders to report to Pensacola, Florida for Naval OCS training beginning on November 20, 2006, his birthday.
On November 19, 2006, my son will fly to Pensacola, Florida.
My sons mother cried.
She had been the kind of mother he deserved. She knew instinctively what to do, but again she was afraid. My son had volunteered to serve his country, to serve our country. He knows we are with him.
Today, Iran is more of a threat than ever. How could our leaders have been and continue to be so short-sighted? The little guy, born 27 years ago, and others of his generation born during the Iranian hostage crisis may now be called upon to finally resolve this threat. I know he will be ready, but what will have to happen before our leaders are ready?
May God be with you my son, we love you, Godspeed
My sons father cried.
Prayers up.
God be with him.

Thank you and your wife. And your son.
It is special.
This reader cried. I will continue to pray for your son and all our brave warriors!
Don't worry about it. We get nothing but vanities since the election. Nice to see one of great substance from time to time. =)
God bless him and you. Thank him for us for serving this great country of ours. There are many just like him who love it.
Please know that our prayers go with your son and I, personally, feel the pain and anguish you are going through.
Thank you for the post.
No pardon required for a sentiment so well stated. May God bless you all and keep you safe as only He can.
May I have your permission to e-mail this to a few non-freepers I know? It may get around if I do, so I thought I'd better ask.
May God bless him & be with him...
Thanks for sharing that with us!
Certainly, and thank you and everyone for your thoughts and prayers. They mean so much!
What is your son's name?
Bless him.
Timberon
This one did too.
May God hold your son in the palm of his hand and keep him safe
You just made your daughter cry too, daddy. I am so proud of my big brother. He is a smart and good person... must take after his dad and mom. Love you too much, too much!
