Newt Gingrich, the Once and Future "Architect"?
Friday, November 10, 2006 | Momaw Nadon

IMHO, Newt Gingrich won't be elected President, but he is far and away the best choice for the post of top Republican strategist. Whether this is in the RNC or somewhere else, I don't know.

He needs to call the shots in 2008 while maintaining a low public profile. He can be the true "architect" of conservative victory once more. He led us to victory in 1994. He can do so again in 2008.

Gingrich should be to Romney what Rove is to Bush.

Romney is clearly against the terrorists.

His position on abortion is not as clear. If Romney took a tough stance against abortion, he would be a formidable Presidential candidate.

He also needs to improve his views on RKBA issues.

Rudy and Newt are both on their third wives. The basic difference is Rudy still claims to be a Catholic (like Kerry and Kennedy).

Not when MSM gets done spinning it.

Absolutely amazes me how naive people are on this site

Look how the MSM protected Kerry from his Vietnam and congressional testimony background

He has already been elected to elected office.

He is not a US Senator.

He is Conservative.

His "baggage" is already out there.

His opponents will come with baggage as well.

Some yet undiscovered.

Newt is a good pick.

I keep seeing that "when the MSN gets done spinning it".

OK, good. We have identified the problem.

So now that we have identified the problem, we find a solution that resolves that problem.

We get the MSN to choose our Republican nominee. Whoever that might be, we must go with it so they spin it our way.

I wonder why that sounds like a dim?

Like Rush said, who doesn't have baggage. If they dont have baggage the msn will make baggage up. I am voting for Newt whether he runs or not. I will write his name down in 08...

Too much baggage... I mean TOO MUCH baggage.

Yep. And the disgraced Hillary has NOOOOOOOO baggage. Nope. Not one bag. Zero. Zip. Nada.

I'll be voting for PatrickF4 because PatrickF4 has NO baggage. Or - do you?

So was Reagan, and W. Newt's a big boy. Besides, as the article suggests, if Newt were the man behind the curtain (think Rove), then he would not be the target that you fear he would be.

"There are a lot here that love to use the "BAGGAGE" buzzword. Reminds me of the liberals whose mantra is, "Bush's Fault!"

I am so tired of people coming on these threads about possible candidates and trashing them because they are not the person they want to run for president. How stupid can freepers get.

Newt is one of the most brilliant conservative minds of the last couple of generations.

When freepers trash Republican candidates, they trash us all. I'd like to see some decent comments about what the man stands for etc.

"Reminds me of the liberals whose mantra is, "Bush's Fault!"

After the last election, his comments on it being easier to pass a "comprehensive' immigration policy and sacking Rumsfeld after the election, it's the mantra of many conservatives too.

Yep. And the disgraced Hillary has NOOOOOOOO baggage. Nope. Not one bag. Zero. Zip. Nada.

Of course she does and a huge negative rating that goes with it. It is something that can be an asset to her opponent- unless of course that person comes with a lot baggage of his own.

Second of all, like or not, Republicans are seen (and portray themselves as) the "party of family values". Thus they are held to a higher standard than their Democratic counterparts. It may be unfair, but it is the reality that Gingrich is going to have to face if he wants to be President.

I think Newt would make a great President. He is the most clear minded candidate avail.

He has gained much more needed experience. What is it, that would prevent him from getting elected?

I agree. The times call for a great leader, not a perfect human being.

A little advice from one of the naive people on this site:

MSM has improved its gameplan since 2004 as was demonstrated Tuesday. Plus, Hitlery is far brighter than "Jon Carry."

Ditto that. I've seen what he did for the party since the early 1990s. It appears that a lot of FReepers aren't aware of that or were too young.

We're never going to get MSM on our side and to support our candidate, unless maybe it's Rudy, whom most of us don't want.

Our best plan is to: 1) stop supporting MSM (the sooner we start dropping subscriptions, the sooner papers and magazines fold) and 2) develop a plan designed to discredit MSM.
