Newly re-elected Sen. Joe Lieberman has been promised by Sen. Harry Reid – who is in line to become the next Senate Majority Leader – that he will support Lieberman’s efforts to become chairman of the powerful Homeland Security Committee.

In a private phone call on Wednesday, Nevada’s Reid told Lieberman that he would recognize Lieberman as the senior Democrat on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which would facilitate Lieberman’s move into the post.

I could not stand to listen to Lieberman's voice for 8 years. Sorry!

"Hey, what's wrong with Lieberman's voice? I thought all of you talked like that!"

If Lieberman jumped ship and gave the Senate to the Repubs, I would think we would be more than happy to give him the same offer.

Why do I have the sick feeling that no one on the GOP side of the aisle is even trying to attempt or has even thought of pulling Lieberman over to the GOP side with a carrot like this? These guys are not only spineless, they have no brains.

OK - If Lieberrman resigns to take any job, isn't the Gov of Conn a Rep, and appoint a Rep to succeed? So much for Harry being maj leader.

"He'll take over for Susan Collins (RINO)."

I rate that a net improvement.

"Realistically, he needs to caucus with the D's still, he promised to, and he's too far left on most domestic issues to be a Republican."

No, Lieberman is a Republican. He just has a "D" next to his name to get elected. If Lieberman ran as a Republican against Lamont, Lieberman would have lost.

Don't confuse Republicans with Conservatives. People did that and look what happened.

The Republicans should offer Liberman Reids proposed job to be leader of the senate if he caucauses with the Republicans and thus gives committee chairmanships to Republicans. Liberman can brag that he can do more for Conneticut and the USA from that position.

McCain, who's more conservative then Liberman on EVERY SINGLE ISSUE, significantly more conservative on everything but the WOT, which is about a tie, and still like Lieberman.

How do they match up when it comes to the Second Amendment?

He might have last year. I don't know. His lifetime ACU is in the mid 80's, which isn't that much less then Santorum.

Lieberman's, on the other hand, is in the high 20's.

Conservative's reaction to both McCain and Lieberman are a lot more emotional then logical.

I can't find McCain's rating, since he didn't run this year, but Lieberman's got an F, so McCain can't possibly be worse.

Rediculous.

Lieberman is:

- Pro Partial Birth Abortion
- Anti Tax Cuts
- "F" from the NRA
- Constantly in the 20's from the ACU
- Anti-Private Accounts for SS & Medicare
- He was for School Choice before he was against it.
etc.

People that think Lieberman is anything resembling a conservative are dilluted. Look at the record, not the rhetoric.

And you base that on what?

McCain's record on spending issues is one of the best in either house of Congress. He's excellent on Iraq and the rest of the WOT. He's voted for all of Bush's judicial nominees, etc.

Like I said before, conservatives opinion on both McCain and Lieberman are more emotional then logical.
