Remember the Schlitz adds that threatened to do bad things to you if you took away their Schlitz? "You want to take my Schlitz? I'm gonna make you a corner stone in a high rise."
Schlitz was the number 2 selling beer in the US when the ad campaign started.
Making fun of your potential customers isn't the brightest way to sell a product.

I wouldn't mind if CDW found another IT guy for their spots.

I am a Mac user and I agree about the pummeling.

That is unbelievably unfounded. I personally think you'd be surprised. My honest guess? I bet there are more Mac users here as a percentage of posters than at DU.

Actually, they're called (cringe) 'Softies'

True but actually my reference to the Amiga 500 does get me a little misty eyed.I owned one back in the late 80's and for the time frame and the price point it was the best machine on the market !!! Me, too. It was a wonderful machine. When I first loaded "Wings" and its depiction of the Wright Brothers' first flight, it was like a taking a magical trip to the distant future of computer graphics paradise.

If you're in the market for one, there's a vintage tech guy just down the complex from me :-)
(and he has freakin' EVERYTHING! He found and bought a copy of the Smithsonian annual report from 1871 because it had Charles Babbage's obit in it...)

No...we just realize that as a minority, we are responsible for our ability to learn the dominant language.
Kind of like the way we expect immigrants to learn our language.
Funny. I really applauded that move because it seemed like a conservative value to me.

I hate that guy. I pray for a commercial where someone smacks him with something pointy.

LOL. You need some more TVs to use as monitors? I think we have a couple in the garage!

"Seth Stevenson, ad critic for Slate . . ."Just another "smug little twit."

Kinda reminds me of the old Porshe 914. Their owners' eyes would gloss over when reminded that they had a volkswagon engine ...

I have a 1952 9" DuMont I'm using at the moment.

Aw. Shoot.
Oh well. We'll hang on to them just in case. :-D.

Check out my name.
Macs are far superior for photography, imo. And my music. Whoa. And the 24 inch makes a great high def tv, including 1080p content. :)
To: Vermonter
"Alas while viewing audiences felt that while the Mac Guy may have proved his case, most of them wanted to pummel the smug little twit into a coma and jump on his bleeding body until the cops arrived."
Ahhhh. I'm not alone. I found those ads offensive in the extreme. I said as much to a friend of mine who is a Mac ZEALOT (he sells Macs) and he got totally irate and condescending about it ("how could you be so dumb?").
Mac zealots are like libs, IMHO. They think they're smarter than everyone else. That must be when I hang out with my friend at the computer store one Lib after another is there buying them (you know Libs when you see them).
