California Attorney General-Elect Jerry Brown said yesterday he is looking forward to working with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to create regulations for the enforcement of Californias new Global Warming legislation.
Brown, who defeated state Sen. Chuck Poochigian, R-Fresno, by a decisive margin in Tuesdays election, told the MetNews he wants regulations that are practical, defendable and effective.
Noting that the California Department of Justice--which the attorney general heads--has sent six officers to Oakland to help with its crime problem Brown said he is also looking forward to expanding the program to help other cities in need. Poochigian focused on Oakland crime rates in the campaign, blaming Brown, who has been the citys mayor for eight years.
He said he has not chosen a chief deputy attorney general yet, and will meet with current members of the department before making any staff decisions. Building a team is my number one priority, he added.
When asked to explain his large victory margin--he won by more than 18 percentage points--Brown responded:
People believed me, and didnt believe him.
Poochigan has not called to congratulate him, Brown noted, adding that he thinks the Republican may have taken it personally.
Brown said he expects nothing to come of a lawsuit filed by state Republican leaders, and financed by the California Republican Party, challenging his eligibility to be attorney general.
I bet not one in a hundred lawyers would agree with the plaintiffs claims, he said.
In the lawsuit, plaintiffs Thomas G. Del Beccaro, Contra Costa County Republican Party chairman; Adam C. Abrahms, head of the Los Angeles chapter of the California Republican Lawyers Association; and others allege that Brown fails to qualify to be attorney general under Government Code Sec. 12503, which says:
No person shall be eligible to the office of Attorney General unless he shall have been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the state for a period of at least five years immediately preceding his election or appointment to such office.
The plaintiffs contend the statute requires one to be an active member of the State Bar throughout the five-year period. Browns attorneys argue that anyone who has been a member of the State Bar, even if on voluntary inactive status, during the period qualifies under the statute.
Brown was initially admitted to the State Bar in 1965, but was on inactive status from 1997 to May 2003.
Poochigian could not be reached for comment. A call to the attorney for the plaintiffs in the lawsuit was not returned.
Laugh now, friend. Coming to the socialist state near you. Remember Cal is the incubator for the rest of the United Socialist States. Read some history.
BTW, no disrespect intended.

The requirements seem pretty cut and dried, seems likes the case would be easy to decide. That being California, not sure it would matter though.
It wouldn't surprise me if the moonbats in the Cal legislature vote to put a tax on SUVs and luxury cars entering California at the AZ, NV, and OR borders. If that happens it will be an interesting case for the SCOTUS. CA is my home state but moving back there permanently is out of the question for us now. The political climate and the tax system is way too left-wing.
Are you sure it wasn't "moonbeam"?
Wow! An oxymoron from a full-bore moron!
LOL! You get what you deserve, California.
------
Yes, the moron libs and swing voters of this state have just about finished it off. Commander Moonbeam as Atty General --- what a riot. The criminals of California are elated...and we, the REAL conservative citizens of California are frustrated, mad and still in disbelief.
Well, you get what you vote for...the morons who have no idea what they have done to California, along with putting the state 37 BILLION DOLLARS more in debt, will get exactly what they voted for.
I did not.
From my cold dead hands!
He lost, like just about every other Republican.
Tom received a last minute stab in the back that was used to its full advantage by his opponent, ultimately losing by 4.6% to John Garamendi of Shriver Peace Corps heritage who also has pledged to use his post for Tom was leading the vote counts by as much as 52% to 44%; it went downhill from there.
He had a lot of big plans for Oakland too, supposed to clean it up and make it safe. It's the same old S**tH**e
Savage should be celebrating....
I thought it was 'Moonbeam'?
In any case Moonbat is more fitting - he's certifiable.

UNGGGHHHH!
Propane is worse, look at all the pollution caused to make the tank, deliver it, for you to go get it, etc.
*I* voted; sure didn't vote Dim....
Worked for the Doolittle campaign (won!) and hated to see McClintock lose.
So what do *I* 'deserve' ?????
Worse. They shot down Proposition 90, eminent domain (with the help of C.R.A.P.)
Be careful where you buy your home. They may want to raze the property to build a park or toll road.
Thanks, Hank Hill.
