Tom received a last minute stab in the back that was used to its full advantage by his opponent, ultimately losing by 4.6% to John Garamendi of Shriver Peace Corps heritage who also has pledged to use his post for Environmental Activism and to fight Global Warming windmills. Tom was leading the vote counts by as much as 52% to 44%; it went downhill from there.
