if we set the precedent for a senate rules change now, we can forget using our minority to block senate action for the next 2 years.

Dutifully, yes, I did try even knowing that I may as well have been talking to myself. He has things in his head a certain way and no one can convince him otherwise. You see, I have been brainwashed by the Republicans and conservatives and have things all mixed up. He knows for a fact that: 1)Bush stole the election in FL. 2)Iraq was about oil and/or finishing Daddy's mess. I could go on but will spare you all. It's quite sad actually.

When he first started voicing his opinion on illegals I thought "aha, I gotcha now..." but a dozen conversations later I still have yet to convince him that his beliefs and those of the Democrat party no longer match. I am just happy that he no longer votes.

You have brought up an interesting topic: the gang of 14 in the Senate. I hold these RINO Republicans responsible for the undermining of the conservative agenda which demoralized the grass root conservative support for this last election. The RINOs had their fight against the "neocons" and caused the Republican Party to lose power in both houses. The gang of 14 opposed most of the Bush Administration's efforts for change, which would have energized the conservative grass root support.

The Senators illustrated that Senate comity was more important than pleasing their voters. They are members of the world's most exclusive cluba and now they reap what they sow.

I guess this is why despite doing hundreds of phone calls and scores of door knocks here in Ohio, I just don't get all that depressed.
