THIS WILL BE INTERESTING [Byron York] From a White House press release:
NOMINATIONS SENT TO THE SENATE:
John Robert Bolton, of Maryland, to be the Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations, with the rank and status of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and the Representative of the United States of America in the Security Council of the United Nations.

...why-why-why.
You are correct, but Depression-era RATS are dropping like flies every day. I hope your grandfather lives a healthy life for years to come, but you get my point.
I did the exact same thing. Told him (voicemail) that Bush offered a bipartisan olive branch changing Rumsfeld, so Harry should return the favor and allow Bolton to be voted on fairly soon.
2006 was the most underperforming year for confirming judges ever. Even Pat Leahy remarked on it, probably with a smirk.
Anyways I'll take Hugh Hewitt's take over yours, no offense.

Let them try. We will use the nuclear option; they will use it on us next year anyway.
"Bolton will be confirmed, and quickly. Bush traded Rummy for Bolton, and it has been planned for some time.
absolutely right."
You're assuming the Dems hold their part of the deal. How many times do you guys need to be schooled?
I don't completely accept the notion that the Gang of 14 was a mistake. It did result in two Supreme Ct. nominees getting through. Going nuclear would have been the preferred strategy, but I think the Gang of 14 emerged because the GOP in the Senate wasn't going to go nuclear, and hence McCain's approach with the Gang of 14, while it was a single that the Republicans were weak, saved two decent nominations.
Pipe dream. Biden and Reid both just said this isn't going to happen. Chaffee will say no.
He will not be missed.
For that matter, lets just create 4 vacancies on the SC and fill them while we are at it. Time for the boldness we have lacked for so many years now. This would give the old faithful reason to fight like hell for '08.
I didn't see the show myself, but a Freeper reported hearing Lindsey Graham on Hannity at the time. Graham was saying Frist didn't have the votes for the nuclear option. Hannity asked "But wouldn't he have had the votes if you and McCain had gone along?" Per the report, Graham sort of sputtered and didn't have an answer.
I don't know if I would go right to "nice" - He's an old fool and a bigot to boot...and yes, he, like most of the people, is really clueless when it comes to what is what. He's still living in the past.
Are you suggesting that the troops deserve this? That our allies deserve this? People put their lives on the line for this President so we could live free and you think this was deserved.
And what's scarier is than many of them VOTE! Fortunately, that old fool has stopped caring enough to make the effort. Since I know he'd vote the wrong way anyway, I do nothing to encourage him otherwise. ;)
Chaffee has made it clear that he opposes Bolton because of his support for Israel. Chaffee wants us to be more supportive of the Palestinians. (terrorists)
You had an excellent opportunity to explain the illegal immigrant position of the dems. Hope you took advantage.
It was Voinovich who refused to allow the vote for Bolton out of committee. He has since written a guest editorial to the Washington comPost saying he would support Bolton.
I am beginning to think that old fool is far too ornery to die - LOL! But yes, I get your point and overall that will be a good thing IF all the younger generations aren't indoctrinated beyond hope by the public schools, liberal universities and the mass media.
