What an absurd idea. Whatever McCain has or hasn't done causing the GOP to lose is not his fault.

President Bush is a great negotiator then. I have read numerous times today that Rummy was leaving no matter what the election outcome. It has been surmized that if we held Congress he still would have left by the end of the year.

If Rummy was going anyway, we just got Bolton for free.

If true, then this explains the President's recent comment of keeping Rummy for the rest of his administration.

I give you immigration, you don't impeach me

Since he wants the immigration anyway, that's tantamount to just saying "please don't impeach me."

Of course, Bush could have asked him to resign and he refused. With control of the Senate, the Democrats can directly dispose of Bolton in committee.

I would be astounded if the RATs didn't bottle this up in order to "let the new Congress execute the will of the people." Will the RATs dare the republicans to invoke the nuclear option, just in time to let them wield it for two plus years?

Ambassador to the UN is a job that we need in real time, someone who can react to events as they occur. Rummy has had time to largely implement his reforms of the Pentagon and with a worthy successor, as Gates seems to be, that work will go forward.

Take a vacation, Don. Well deserved.

Oh, I see your point. Bush is putting dems in position of having to explain why they'd prevent a vote on someone who's already doing the job.

Even before seeing this, with the rumors about Bolton, I thought one possible scenario would be that Bush asked Bolton for his resignation, and Bolton said "No."

Next, you'll tell me the above sentence makes sense.

So, a whole lot of things are going to happen that we are not going to like, in order to insure that a few things happen that we will like.

What? You mean governing is all about...gasp...politics?

This disclaimer has been added as a service to the sarcasm impaired.

Yes. I DO think they'll pass the Nuclear Option, and I will be laughing my head off at those who said we shouldn't because we wouldn't want to give it to them.

I was truly wondering if he would be put up for a vote before the new Congress meets. My questions have been answered. Now, to get him approved. I think, with the Republicans losing the election, this will be their last hurrah before adjourning.

I read last January that they were only going to meet this year for a total of 90 days.

Hey, I wasn't going to wish this on the party, and I certainly didn't vote that way, but the icy cold angry part of me thinks they deserve everything they get right now.
