"We're asking for what's due to us to make us feel comfortable on a Euro-centric campus." Oh. It's all about "feelings". I see ... How do you like "Bugger Off" for an answer?

I need a heartfelt appology and a new activity center.Me too, but I wouldn't feel comfortable in Owl_Eagle's new activity centre. I want my own. And about three-fiddy.

Diversity is the enemy of unity - not the recognition of our vafied backgrounds, but their elevation to coequal status with our citizenship, our "American" identity. Concentrating on "diversity" takes our eye off the ball. Argh.

"We're not asking for anything outlandish," said IUPUI senior Dominic Dorsey, 24, who heads the group. "We're asking for what's due to us to make us feel comfortable on a Euro-centric campus."What hath we wrought?

major creep is a huge problem and its not just in ethnic studies (though they are the worst offenders). There are schools that offer BS degrees in wireless engineering, what a crock. Get an EE and specialize in wireless thats what electives are for!
In the same view some school has to step up and say *enough* you want to be an black studies major pick history and aim all your electives at Africa / American history

"Black studies" is not about Africa - there are legitmate academic discplines that study Africa. It is about spending four years marinating one's self in victimhood.

If you don't feel comfortable on a 'euro-centric' campus why the heck are you there. I guess your first action on graduating and getting a job is to sue because your boss didn't make you feel comfortable in a 'euro-centric' job, right? Suck it up, the school is there to give you an education, not make you feel good.
This is what comes from a societal view and education system that believes it is more important to not hurt little Johnny's self-esteem than to challenge them and prepare them for a world that doesn't give a d**m about their feelings.

IUPUI is not Purdue University - it's a third-rate extension campus.

It's good to see African-American students following their parents' lead, and demanding this, that, and the other thing. Just like the old days.

"In other words, SEPARATE BUT EQUAL. Hmm."
Not at all. My point was that if he doesn't like the University he should find one that he likes better rather than make racist demands. As far as separate but equal, it is Blacks who are actively seek to separate themselves from whites.

Tell me what you are qualifyed to do if you major in "black studies" other than become an activist for reparations? Public relations in the black community for large corporations.
I just met a women who works at my company who got a big promotion and move to California after completing her Masters in African-American studies.
Remember that you asked. ;)
