Good grief, everyone is acting like the world has come to an end. There will be plenty of political battles ahead, and the constitutional powers of the President of the United States are enormous.

In fact, Bush will be more popular in 2007-08, have more relative power and be less of a lame duck with a Democratic Congress than with a Republican one. Further, any death or resignation of a US Senator from a state with a GOP governor, and we are back in business in the US Senate.

For those across FR who purport to care so much about our troops in harms way (as I believe they genuinely do), let's give the President of the United States a bit of latitude as commander in chief and Head of State to foster as much unity as possible for our men and women in uniform,. The election is over. We lost. It's Thanksgiving. Now is the time to rally as much unity as possible for our nation.

Bush is doing what any man or woman fit for the high office of President should do. We are in capable hands under the leadership of this fine man.

I agree that it would seem as though maturity has taken a back seat

I don't think any Senators will die any time soon but I appreciate the gist of your post :)

"Good grief, everyone is acting like the world has come to an end."

If Bush get's his amnesty, and I think he will, it will be the end of the GOP and the end of the USA.

... the constitutional powers of the President of the United States are enormous.

Darn. That's what I was afraid of.

Bush said himself yesterday, "Americans expect us to work together in a bi-partisan way."

That is not a tone of defiant checks and balances, friend.

They say making law and making sausage is similar. Well, what you are hearing is the new tone of capitulation to get lots and lots of nasty rotten legislation shoved through the machine! But I'm an optimist!

I agree with you entirely. At the same you can't blame many of us who always had doubts about the President since Miers. For me personally, I will never understand why HE caused so much consternation by choosing Miers (there was NO NEED to do that). Same thing with Immigration/Border security. Two huge issues GW DID NOT UNDERSTAND how the base felt...so you see, that is what is causing all this uncertainty? Who is GWB really?... we wonder.

BTW, I think is healthy to get all this out in the open...We should be able to talk about this w/o getting bent out of shape... too early for that :

Fine points all.

BUT, it's time for these Republicans to start their own guerilla warefare. We've had it from the Dems all this time.

What is there to loose? The MSM will blame them for everything anyway.
