Bush to make statement with his cabinet in Rose Garden at 11:35 AM...
The definign event of Bush's presidency, 9/11, was not on anyone's mind when he was inagurated. So now the Dems have the Congress,a nd they're busy making their list of 100hr, l00day things to do, and they assume they're going to just magically fix Irtaq. When somewhere out there in the world, events are conspiring against them. We don't know "what" "where" and "when"..but we know "who" and "why". It's the ultimate act of hubris not to think otherwise..
If you want to sit around and feel sorry for yourself...go ahead...I prefer to take a stand and fight off everything the rats try to do.
"The GOP base voted; so did the RAT base, in roughly equal numbers. We lost the election because we lost the independents, who voted in higher percentages than in 2002, mostly due to Iraq and in some cases local issues, such as corruption.
We lost independents 3:2, specifically suburban women and Catholics."
Glad to hear from another voice of reason. There is no evidence that the Rep's lost because the base stayed home. Libertarians did swing a few key elections, so we will have a Demonrat Senate and no more good court appointments. Thanks a lot, dopeheads. The rest of the damage was done by the media, who control most of what wishy-washy "independent" sheeple believe.
It's disgusting and defeatist. Sounds like a bunch of two year olds whining. I imagine many have come "out of the woodwork" just to try and stir things up.
"and RINOS who held hands with democrats will learn that lesson right along with everyone else."
Sad, yet true.
I agree with you entirely. At the same you can't blame many of us who always had doubts about the President since Miers. For me personally, I will never understand why HE caused so much consternation by choosing Miers (there was NO NEED to do that). Same thing with Immigration/Border security. Two huge issues GW DID NOT UNDERSTAND how the base felt...so you see, that is what is causing all this uncertainty? Who is GWB really?... we wonder.
BTW, I think is healthy to get all this out in the open...We should be able to talk about this w/o getting bent out of shape... too early for that :
This post really made me stop and think for a moment. I have to admit, for myself at least, this is true. I'd kind of forgotten, but back in 2000 I wasn't enthusiastic about our choices at all. It was only after 9/11, when he really stepped up to the plate, that I was very glad he was president (as opposed to Gore. I still shudder imagining...) But yes, you are right. I knew from the beginning he wasn't the cold-eyed Randian that I'd have preferred to see in office. Alas. He's a good man but he's just what he ever was.
But the ones that stayed home aren't posting here...they're people who generally aren't involved in politics. It's the candidates' and party's job to figure out how to motivate them.
1. The election results Tuesday.
2. My Steelers are 2-6.
3. W has to have lunch with Polusi today.
just to try and stir things up.
You are correct. We know who they are also.
ME THREE!
I've spoken to several active-duty and retired soldiers in the last two days...they are- dumbfounded.
That is why I think we lost the election, jobs-trade-immigration, not just Iraq.
Oh, right; and you are one of his cajones. What a big man you are. What a pair ya got!
Listen, when the democrats take power, they will be exposed and their policies will fail. It is up to us Republicans to educate the public on these failures. We must do so with integrity and class. First things first, support President Bush, he does NOT deserve our abandonment. Thank God for FreeRepublic!
Exactly so. They have lost their right to complain.
They stayed at home and elections have consequences.
Of course, many of the most vociferous, were bashing Bush and the GOP all long, --- all the while proclaiming that they were the base. HAR, the base always votes, the fringers do not.
