The GOP base voted; so did the RAT base, in roughly equal numbers. We lost the election because we lost the independents, who voted in higher percentages than in 2002, mostly due to Iraq and in some cases local issues, such as corruption.
We lost independents 3:2, specifically suburban women and Catholics.
Sorry, your conspiracy theory garbage is completely out of line. Many FReepers are upset and plenty have donated their own money.
Yep you are so correct. PREACH IT MY BROTHER! We don't want any more ALITO's or ROBERT's like those Democrats forced Bush to Nominate. I will be so glad to get some more Kennedy's, Sauter's and O'Connor's on the bench. I can't wait. I am right there with you!!!
Don Young (R) Alaska says that while he will not be chairman of the Transportation Committee he expects to be able to direct at least a token amount of pork toward Alaska, although it won't be high-grade bacon.
2. Bolton
3. Cheney
4. Rice
42% of voters said that the Dems would be better for the economy
29% said Republicans
That is telling. Cut spending, cut pork, kill earmarks.
From your mouth to g*d's ears Amen.
Now is the time for conservatives to blow off some steam, IMO. And to demand new GOP leadership, top to bottom.
No it isn't...now is the time for us to unite and stick it to the rats on Cap Hill.....
How does one remember nothing?
Hail the global caliphate, brought to you by the same spiteful, disloyal back-stabbers who brought you Ho Chi Minh City and Pol Pot--the American electorate.
We will endure this short-term loss so long as the RINOs are exposed and ultimately purged from our ranks. The Republican Party lost because it tried to out-liberal the Dhimmicrat liberals. What Karl Rove and company didn't understand is that the liberals only dragged us down to their level and then beat us with experience.
W ran as a "compassionate conservative." We all knew what that meant in 2000 and elected him anyway. He didn't abandoned anyone. Some just chose to ignore the obvious and pretended he was something he never professed to be. Whose fault is that?
He isn't the ideal GOP president, but he was better than McCain, Gore or Kerry. I see him being "punished" because conservatives have been living in lala land.
That's great and all, but after yesterday we really have to wonder if the President is up for this fight.
It would appear so.
You left off the impeachment hearings.
Folks,
You're all missing the key data out election night.
The exit polls said the most important factor in why people voted as they did was NOT immigration, abortion and was NOT Iraq.
It was corruption scandals.
Also, the Democrats who took the GOP seats are anti abortion and pro gun conservatives. Some were even pro Bush on Iraq.
They Got Elected Because Of The Corruption Scandals.
So stop this philosophical wastage of time. There is no value at all in analyzing how far to move the party right or left.
Spend your time creating spreadsheets for these Democrats who claim to be conservative and track every one of their votes -- and then send that data to their district newspapers. Every single time they try to vote with Democrats, punish them.
They will either switch parties, drag the DNC to the right, or not even bother to unpack when they move to DC because any squeaky clean true GOP candidate will be back in that seat in 2008.
I posted this on another thread, but want to say it here as well...
Cheer Up Guys.
There is a silver lining...so look at it this way (if you want)...
The Democrats screamed and screamed that everything fell on Bush and his administration. Nothing they did was right.
Granted, there were a lot of scandals and I think most of the Republicans that got voted out, were involved with those scandals. So we cleaned house.
Democrats are majority now. BUT, they are NOT all lefty moonbats. A lot of them are conservative/moderates, and they can vote with Republicans and hopefully they will and keep the government in the middle. And hopefully Bush will use his veto pen more and not let the moonbat agenda through.
Now since they are in majority, they HAVE to start showing what THEIR PLAN is...they can't just sit back and bitch and moan and whine. If they continue on the path they've been on...Americans alike will see them for what they are. OBSTRUCTIONISTS and UNSAFE for this country.
Just think of it as the road being paved for us in '08 and cheer that now that they are put up to the plate, their true colors will have to be seen by everyone because they have nothing. NOTHING.
Hold on folks...it will be a bumpy ride. But God is still in control here...and we'll make it. :)
Just my $.02.
Darn. That's what I was afraid of.
Bush said himself yesterday, "Americans expect us to work together in a bi-partisan way."
That is not a tone of defiant checks and balances, friend.
They say making law and making sausage is similar. Well, what you are hearing is the new tone of capitulation to get lots and lots of nasty rotten legislation shoved through the machine! But I'm an optimist!
Oh they'll get rid of the problems first. THEN go after the big fish.
DING DING DING
We have a winner. The typical Reagan Democrat took a look at things and decided that, if both sides are going to push through a massive immigration plan and support offshoring, the smart thing to do is vote Dhimicrat so at least his welfare check will be really nice when he loses my job.
As usual, I voted straight ticket on Tuesday. I have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with this president, even in tough times (Harriet Miers). I will continue to stand with my brother, the President, but it has been a hard couple of days and, over the top posts notwithstanding, we are all just venting a bit.
In fact, if people are looking for the REAL culprits it is the minions in Congress who betrayed us!! The gang of 14! Denny Hastert practically pardoning William Jefferson. No leadership. Nothing done. Bridges to nowhere!!
No matter what anyone says I am just glad we didn't face this loss in 2004 or we'd have President Kerry screwing us worldwide! So I am COUNTING our blessings that we still have President George W. Bush standing between us and the terrorists no matter how much BS Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid spew onto our TVs!
