Good grief, everyone is acting like the world has come to an end. There will be plenty of political battles ahead, and the constitutional powers of the President of the United States are enormous.

In fact, Bush will be more popular in 2007-08, have more relative power and be less of a lame duck with a Democratic Congress than with a Republican one. Further, any death or resignation of a US Senator from a state with a GOP governor, and we are back in business in the US Senate.

For those across FR who purport to care so much about our troops in harms way (as I believe they genuinely do), let's give the President of the United States a bit of latitude as commander in chief and Head of State to foster as much unity as possible for our men and women in uniform,. The election is over. We lost. It's Thanksgiving. Now is the time to rally as much unity as possible for our nation.

Bush is doing what any man or woman fit for the high office of President should do. We are in capable hands under the leadership of this fine man.

I think it was the Congress's fault for losing the House and Senate. They were just as responsible for pandering to the Democrats if not more so than Bush (Gang of 14 anyone?). They are responsible for proposing the legislation, where was it?

My fellow Americans, it is time to shake up the White House. Vice-President Cheney has resigned. I have appointed Condi Rice to be the new VP. Dick Cheney will take over as Sec. Defense. Once Condi is confirmed during the lame duck session of Congress, I will resign as your President and renew my acquaintance with an old friend Jack Daniels on a full time basis.,

I am out of here! lets party!

"Bush is such a coward-hanging his colleagues left and tight-he should just resign or be impeached-I would rather see that than this"

Just stop it. You don't even know what the announcement is. Don't kick the man while he's down.

Yes he has heard the "message", and now the "messengers" are complaining.

What a surprise, not, since rightwing voters have always felt more comfortable in the minority.

I think its a pathology of martyrdom or something, lol.

Do you know how silly that sounds? IF the reason for the "sit it out Republican voters" were immigration, then why or why did they let the House which was our firewall fall to the democrats?

He ought to send Rove out, every time he opens his mouth he makes an ass out of himself, maybe he should just switch party's.

"Dubya ditched us long ago."

From many of the comments on this thread, I can understand why. First the cut and run "conservatives" choose to turn the Congress over to the dems, and now they try to turn FreeRepublic into DU. What a pathetic lot of spoiled children. Enjoy your Democrat Congress. You earned it.

Now is the time for conservatives to blow off some steam, IMO. And to demand new GOP leadership, top to bottom.

"Undermining the President and making fun of him is not going to help us to right the ship."

When he signs the amnesty bill for 20 million new democrat voters(illegal aliens) can we start undermining him?

HAMAS JUST DECLARED WAR ON US

I saw that too- interesting that the article I read did not call it a global fatwa, just a call for every Muslim everywhere to attack the USA anywhere they were.

And our new Muslim congressman will do what exactly about this?
