THREE Christian high school girls were beheaded as a Ramadan "trophy" by Indonesian militants who conceived the idea after a visit to Philippines jihadists, a court heard yesterday.

The girls' severed heads were dumped in plastic bags in their village in Indonesia's strife-torn Central Sulawesi province, along with a handwritten note threatening more such attacks. The note read: "Wanted: 100 more Christian heads, teenaged or adult, male or female; blood shall be answered with blood, soul with soul, head with head."

Javanese trader Hasanuddin appeared in Jakarta Central Court yesterday charged with planning and directing the murders in October last year. He faces a death sentence if found guilty under anti-terrorism legislation. Hasanuddin allegedly returned from a visit to members of Philippines Islamist group the Moro Islamic Liberation Front with tales of how that organisation regularly staged bombings to coincide with Lebaran, the festival that ends the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. He later spoke with a preacher in Poso, Central Sulawesi, about whether such a plan could work in Indonesia, but expressed doubt about whether it was appropriate. However, after further discussion with friends, he decided that beheading Christians could qualify as an act of Muslim charity.

Conscripting several accomplices at a local pesantren, or Islamic school, he directed one of them, Lilik Purnomo, to seek out "the head of a Christian", prosecutors alleged. "It would be a great Lebaran trophy if we got a Christian. Go search for the best place for us to find one," Hasanuddin allegedly ordered his companion. Lilik returned to say he had found an "excellent" target - a group of schoolgirls who travelled to and from class by foot in the Central Sulawesi village of Gebong Rejo.

I think it has to do with the enemy you are at war with. Everything you have claimed in your previous posts is why we have to adopt vicious methods to win. I really am not saying I would target a group of children. But if they are part of the enemies combatants then you must do what you must do or get out and don't let what they do bother you.

If the children are unarmed and not cooperating with armed operations, they are not combatants no matter what their trained-to-hate opinions might be, and are not to be directly targetted. (Their parents may rot in hell.)

If they are armed or cooperating with armed operations, they need to be stopped (shot; or --- if possible --- disarmed and taken prisoner, like any other party with a bomb or a gun who's trying to kill you.) Which, I believe, is what our troops are trying to do.

In either case, it's their parents (or the terrorists who use them as suicide bombers or pawns in combat) who bear the blood guilt.

You have to TRY to distinguish innocent from guilty and combatant from non-combatant, knowing there will be necessary split-second decisions, knowing there will be ghastly deadly errors, and knowing that you can never do it perfectly.

You know, as we sit here and disagree on philosophies. I would ask you why their people are not standing in line to help us distinguish the difference and defending their own country. Including those that are here. If they are with us or truly support what we are doing. Now that we have done the hard job it's up to them. Yet I still cannot get the picture of those be headings to go away. It makes me very angry.

I have to vent. When I read these sorts of stories, I have the following visceral reaction. I visualize the organization of a group whose mission is to visit hot beds of Islamism / Islamic fascism. The group would be heavily armed. In addition to all the usual hardware, the group would have the equivalent of samurai swords. The group would seek out Islamists and dispatch samurai justice daily.

General covert support for them by the overarching (deeply anti Western) Shanghai Cooperation Organization cannot be ruled out.

Well I figured it was as this person doesn't lie.....I was hoping it wasn't as bad as he claims but I think it is. He said they have been living here for years before 9/11 too. Said they can be your neighbor, your friend but when that call comes it doesn't matter who you are,or were to these people they will follow directions and easily kill you. Makes you really wonder and I don't feel very secure or safe.
