Ray was originally in the 8th Army, made Sergeant,(more than once), and fought in France and Belgium.
He was in the 'Battle of the Bulge', and was one of the 'Bastards of Bastogne'!
In the fog of war, he fought alongside several groups, including an Air Force unit, and some British and Canadian Forces. Since he was bandaged by a Canadian Medic, he was later made an Honourary Chief Warrant Officer in the R.C.R.
Sergeant O'Donnell was one of our heroes, and I'll bet he's got his leg back, now that he's in Heaven!
R.I.P., Sarge.
OORAH!!

It is unto You, O Lord, that we return with deep appreciation for the life and sacrifice of Raymond O'Donnell. Thank You that he has been a part of each of our lives, for his service has given us our liberties and freedom. Comfort his family and friends as they mourn his passing from this life ... encourage their hearts unto the time of joyous reunion. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns forever, Amen ...

My sympathies to you and Sherry, Gonz. You were lucky to know such a man, let alone to have him as part of your family.
