"BTW, didn't his father lose an election on that same slogan?"
I always associate "Read my lips, no new taxes" to Pres. Bush 41.

"Thank you to all of the Republicans that "punished" Bush over anything..."
Your thanks should go to Bush and Rove, who could not find a way to secure the borders, to cut out of control spending, to punish the law breaking Clintonista's, who introduced Dubia Ports and who "managed" the occupation in Iraq and tieing the hands of our brave solders instead of turning them loose to do their job. i.e. Al Mookie Sadr should alreday be with his virgins.
Thank those who created this disaster. The POLICY MAKERS.

Did any Republican candidate win an election in which there was either a Democratic incumbent or Democrat that formerly held the seat? (House or Senate?)

Kennedy also joined the Kelo majority and wrote Roper v. Simmons. It's not just that one case. He's been heading Left more each year.

Don't worry, the Dems are here to turn things around. No, the dems are here to gridlock the government until we can get some better choices than so-called representatives who support monster deficits, think securing our borders isn't all that important, think the religious right is in favor of torture, and trashing rights we've had since before this country was founded.
All told, the dems are about the most useless, pathetic bunch you can find but they're very good at gridlock. Ya gotta give them that. With a 50/50 split in congress and President Bush in the whitehouse we the people should be able to breath a little easier for the next two years.
It's a sad day when you have to vote democrat to stay conservative.

The Associated Press contacted election officials in all 134 localities where voting occurred, obtaining updated numbers Wednesday. About half the localities said they had completed their postelection canvassing and nearly all had counted outstanding absentees. Most were expected to be finished by Friday.
The new AP count showed Webb with 1,172,538 votes and Allen with 1,165,302, a difference of 7,236. Virginia has had two statewide vote recounts in modern history, but both resulted in vote changes of no more than a few hundred votes.
An adviser to Allen, speaking on condition of anonymity because his boss had not formally decided to end the campaign, said the senator wanted to wait until most of canvassing was completed before announcing his decision, possibly as early as Thursday evening.
The adviser said that Allen was disinclined to request a recount if the final vote spread was similar to that of election night.

Well folks, we're seeing a wave of blue sweep the land but it won't take to long for voters to see red.

Well, I voted Republican, despite Bush having divided the party. Stop blaming everyone else BUT him and give credit for the loss where it is due.

It varies by county/city. In Henrico County I voted with a touch-screen machine; a co-worker of mine who lives south of the James down in Chesterfield County voted with an optical scan paper ballot.

I see, by looking in Google, that VA has about 2/3 of its jurisdictions with the electronic voting with no paper trail.
So, it looks like 1/3 of the state votes on paper.

Message me a month or so before the 2008 Presidential Election and we'll compare notes!
Al Gore said he made the Internet and he can probably take it back by then.
Also look for Democrats to push legislation to leave the main stream media alone, but to require radio to equal liberals with conservative in talk show time on the air, even though liberals can't get advertisement revenue even if the lives of their transgendered special other depended on it.
