Democrats win control of Senate with Jim Webb victory in Virginia.
It's *still* not Thursday yet? Please pass the Tabasco, A-1 and Worcestershire.
The air smells fresher. The grass seem greener. All nature sings as more babies will die, freedoms lost, taxes raised. It is a great day to be an American.
Well thank you Mr. President.
President Bush should have announced Rummy was gone sooner.
Pride comes before a fall. This is the fall of those who were arrogant and thought they had it all.
They have nobody to blame but themselves.
I for one hope for SERIOUS change in Washington. WE ARE ALL FED UP WITH THE POLITICS AND CRAP.
Since Virginia is one of those states that uses electronic voting machines with no paper trail, there isn't any way to do a real recount. All they can do is to add up the numbers again.
That's not going to help. The answer is to require some sort of verifiable paper trail. Here in MN, we use optical readers. The ballot I filled out will be available for a recount, if necessary.
This electronic voting with no audit trail is wrong.
Virginia will say who wins this election, NOT the FREAKING AP!
There should be a recount, if Webb and Allen are within one percentage point.
Concessions are a formality, not a legality. Allen doesn't have to concede in order to lose.
Ah. Forget the recount. Let's just get going with what we got.
we knew it was over yesterday, now there are no more excuses for the dems i expect the following campaign promises to be met
out of iraq quickly
less then 2 gal gas
capturing obl
They cannot blame Bush what say you know nancy, harry, hillary
How are Scalia, Thomas, Alito, and Roberts moderate conservatives, especially the first two?
It's all computer though. All the recount would do is verify that the printout is legible on the machines. If so, the number on the printout is matched to the ledger. If not legible, it is reprinted out. That is it. No dimples, chads, whatever.
"President Bush should have announced Rummy was gone sooner."
Stay the course!
BTW, didn't his father lose an election on that same slogan?
I'll stick to beer. That other stuff is hard on the gut.
No, no, no, no, no.
Don't you get it. There are no recounts, voter fraud, voting irregularities, hanging chads, or preprogrammed diebold machines if it turns out that the democrat is on top.
This is the AP talking. The Commonwealth of Virginia hasn't declared jack sh!t at this point.
They're still counting provisional ballots (they call them "conditional" here) and canvassing all precincts. The canvassing will be done by next Tuesday the 14th, and the election results will be certified on Monday the 27th. The results are not official until then, and if Allen wants a recount, he has to wait until the 27th to ask for it.
I don't know the guy, I don't have an inside line to anybody at the campaign, but at this point I'd doubt he'd push for a recount if the canvassing doesn't turn up anything weird. 7,400 votes is a lot of ground to make up even if it's only a .31% margin. However, he loses nothing by holding out and waiting for the canvassing to complete. That's just prudent.
Allen hasn't conceded a damn thing. Not yet.

Could you send another bottle of champagne over to the LP table...give them the bill later.
Don't worry, the Dems are here to turn things around.
I voted in Virginia with a paper ballot, as did most people at my polling station.
Note to AL QUEDA press.....COUNT THE MILITARY BALLOTS!
