Bush threw conservatives under the bus when he did the prescription drug plan and refused to fight a real war in Iraq. Bush has sent a clear message in the past few years: Conservatives are not welcome in the GOP. This election the conservatives like me sent a message to Bush: You are not welcome in the GOP.

It's possible that someone said, 'I don't care who counts the votes as long as I can change the totals before counting time.'

What I find odd is there were huge numbers that voted for the Marriage Amendment and yet somehow Webb is ahead. Most people I heard "polled" who were Webb supporters claimed to have voted "No."

Well, I guess that's it. One of these election years HOPEFULLY we will recapture both houses, but for now I just pray they don't pull a stupid stunt and try to Impeach W! So sad! I guess we got tired of pulling their walnuts outta the fire ever since they captured both houses. The were STUPID and constantly TURNING on their base would eventually KILL them and the DREAM! I guess our emails and phone calls warning them to stop their stupidity during those times were for not...the base literally got sick and tired. I won't give up though, we fight the good fight and I refuse to give up...MY CHILDREN'S FUTURE IS AT STAKE HERE! But for now may GOD HAVE MERCY ON AMERICA!

Specter isn't a conservative, and he wasn't on the ballot this year. Weldon, like Specter and Santorum, is in PA where the R's just took a hosing, having more to do with their state legislature (I think) than the national party or natinal issues. Losing Allen and Santorum is going to be hard for the GOP to compensate for for a long time.

"This election the conservatives like me sent a message to Bush: You are not welcome in the GOP"

So are you now happy with democrats controlling the legislature?? It is downright shameful that a woman who said such horrible things about a sitting president is now second in line for the job.

It will certainly be entertaining to watch Pelosi, in a slasher-film sort of way. Lot's of Gore (pardon the pun). ;)

In that case they'll be revealed as liars.

OTOH if they do as their supporters seem to want ("Out of Iraq Now!") they will be shown as incompetants.

Does this mean you voted for the Dems?

Anyone want to keep track of how many times we hear the phrase "common ground" per day and who uses it?

The Dems "common ground" is a swamp.

So what happens when there is a vacancy on the Court in the next two years?

W has one heck of a time getting a conservative confirmed!

I understand that Bolton/UN is history already.
Reid won't allow a confirmation of Bolton.

Apparently not. But that may be when the Democrats learned it.

So here is a question. I am not entirely familiar with the law.

Assuming Stevens resigns, what if President Bush just is really, really, really slow about nominating a replacement? Can he do that? Then there are only 8 justices and a better proportion of conservatives.

If he can't do that, can't he just repeatedly nominate the most conservative person he can find, knowing that they will be turned down by the Senate, and then the court remains with only 8 members for the duration?

No, the emotionally unstable conservatives amongst us threw themselves and other conservatives under the bus by not voting for conservative congressmen yesterday.

BTW, Bush campaigned for the the PD plan, it was no surprise, and Bush has fought a real war in Iraq against and army that wears no uniform and hides in the shadows.

The effect of yesterdays results will hurt Bush's WOT, his tax cuts and his future judge appointments.

The effect of yesterdays results will also hurt what Bush was not for, no amnesty and decreases in federal spending.

that is not what i heard jay sekulow say. He said it appears Kennedy is still with us on this issue by the questions he was asking.
