I must say...if Rumsfeld was going to go anyway, why couldn't it have been BEFORE the election? That might've made a difference.

Exactly. This just compounds the appearance of incompetence, failure and defeat. I am sick to my stomach. What are they thinking? If now, then why not back then? Unbelievable!

Regrettably I was thinking the same.

I doubt it. We didn’t lose this because of Rumsfeld.

If he’d stayed on he’d be spending all his time in front of every committee the Dims could think of. Rummy is smart, with the Dims in control they’d be hounding him 24/7 and he wouldn’t be able to do his job. Unfortunately this was a good choice for him.

Too bad, what a shame. The next 2 years will be hell.

He wasn't going away, and it wouldn't have made a difference.

What happened yesterday was consistent with history. That our party had no respect for that history is the issue.

Civilizations have a tough time dealing with prosperity. The lessons of 9/11 have been forgotten, in pretty much record time.

I, for one, cannot WAIT to see the dialogue of peace we plan to open up with the terrorists. If we could only talk to them, surely we can get all this taken care of.

I couldn't agree more. It just might a made a difference with enough independents in the 'super-close' races like Virginia.

So sad that he waited until the day after the election. I think his resignation looks EVEN WORSE the very DAY AFTER the election.
