DAMASCUS, Syria - Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal said Wednesday that a truce with Israel is finished and his group's militants can resume fighting following an Israeli tank attack that killed 18 Palestinians.
Militants will answer the deaths with "deeds, not words," Mashaal told a news conference in the Syrian capital.
"The truce (with Israel) ended at the end of 2005," Mashaal said. "The armed struggle is free to resume, and the resistance is dictated by local circumstances."
The truce formally ended last year but had remained in effect.
Palestinian witnesses and officials said Israeli tank shells crashed into a residential neighborhood early Wednesday, killing at least 18 people, including 10 children, in their sleep.
Security officials said that five tank shells landed in the area near the town of Beit Hanoun within 15 minutes. Most of the casualties were in a row of homes belonging to members of one extended family, officials said.
THERE WAS A TRUCE?
Ah, yes, the uninvolved Syrians.
Looks like the start of a big Middle east move.
Well, yes. After the news behind the links (below), the election results of our domestic tantrums (labor/immigration, ethnic/religious putsches,...) added some fecal topping. I might call it the Mel syndrome.

The nightmare begins......
Heh heh, maybe it's just a coincidence?
After all the terrorists told everyone to vote dimocrat. Too bad the majority of citizens listened to them.
I dread the news from Iraq. It's not going to be pretty.
The race is on now. They are off and running, the muzzies smell the path to victory. They are emboldened after last nights election. The US will greatly reduce aid to Israel and they will not have US support. I think they were just waiting...waiting for the weak and frivolous American left to get power. It was never over for long in the fall. They have re-armed.
Sorrowfully I believe you are right.
Look for Almondjoy to get his nuke, Look for the rest of the Middle eastern countries to want one too. I hate to say this , but IMO Israel should strike Iran now. Before the rest of the Middle east has fallen and before we are forced out. If Israel waits to strike until after our Democrat and terrorist "friends" have forced us out of Iraq , they will be totally alone over there.
Sad day for Iraq and a very sad day for Israel. The left hates them and the Dems will reward the left. Achminisbad most likely already has a nuke. These will be the REAL lessons learned from this election.

Sure there was a truce. There is always a truce for the Islamic terrorists when they call a timeout so that they can rearm, reload their guns, and reposition their troops for another battle.
This is not all bad. I believe the terrorist will overplay their cards with these election results.
I really believe you will see Israel go into full attack mode. Iran will be turned into a parking lot by Israel.
DUmocrats are reliving their glory days....the 1960's. All they need is to reinstate the draft and replace our warriors with "flower children" and they will have their new Vietnam that they've been dreaming about.
What do you think the Iraqi people are thinking this morning? Scared to death.
BAGHDAD, Iraq - The United States ambassador sought to reassure Iraqis on Wednesday that American policy in Iraq would not dramatically change after Democrats seized control of the House of Representatives in U.S. midterm elections.
