Who needs numbers? FOX said Cardin wins.

If the asses take the house now and two years of Pelosi and the far-left, screaming-faces of the Baby Boomers drive people away from Hillary in 08, then this could be a blessing in disguise.

Where are you seeing that?
He's losing Baltimore City, Montgomery, and P.G. That's it, and to my mind, he's keeping it relatively close even in those jurisdictions. Plus, there are still Steele counties that have not reported.
To: Loyolas Mattman
Yes, I think Steele will win when the absentee's are counted.
To: Loyolas Mattman
Which is precisely why this call is going to be reversed.
The county by county results don't add up

Exactly!
Damn the news media!

That isexactly what happened in Arkansas when Mark Pryor was elected to the US Senate a few years back - he ran as a conservative, family-values, outdoorsman, 2nd Amendment supporter. Of course, it took him exactly 1 day after moving into his office to join lockstep (99%+) with the liberal Dem Leadership. I forsee the same happening with all these Freshment Reps and Senators....regardless of if the Repubs hold onto the leadership in either house...

Are they sticking with that call?
What about all the military ballots and early voters?

The high crime areas of Maryland are going for Cardin - most of the state is going for Steele
Frederick County (where I live) has Steele winning by 18 points with 13 of 61 Precincts Reporting.

Freshman senators can more easily discard their conservative trappings after being elected, because they have six years to play with. If they need to, they can vote the liberal line for four years and then "rediscover" their conservative roots for the final two years. We have a few such senators on our side, Senator Lindsey Graham, for example.
Congressmen have no such leeway. They are essentially locked into a permanent campaign cycle for reelection. Freshman congressman are the most vulnerable to getting turned out after only two years. These freshman Democrats will be very cautious their first term.

After working in the "Grassroots" level as a Conservative for several years, I have to say this about this particular election year. The GOP gave this election to the Democrats. As soon as the 2004 election was over with, the Democrats started chipping away at the Republicans and the Republicans sat back and did not do one thing to stop this from taking place.
All of a sudden (in September), the Republicans say oh we might need to start to campaign. Maybe this is a lesson learned but my concern is at what cost? What kind of attacks will take place now? How many have to die? How quickly will the economy tank?
I sadly shake my head and hope there are some Republican leaders reading this... because we "Grassroots" people do matter. Instead of listening to the insipid little snob who paid $25,000 dollars at a luncheon, listen to the people who bust their tails on the campaign trail. By all means take their money but people who give their time and a $200.00 bucks are the people in the real world who know how to win campaigns.

This call was way too premature. I am in Maryland and expected a Steele win. The numbers that are coming in so far are very good fro Steele because he is tied in Baltimore County which is his opponent's home county. Ehrlich is also looking strong. A lot of republican areas have not reported yet.
