Wow! Now that is what I call COLD! Hope you have a great turnout anyway and all the good guys win. Turnout in my county is 4% higher than normal but everything seems to be going well. They have turned away a few people for not having a picture ID. Makes me happy that they are on top of the ID issue and not letting things slide.

Yes, it's cold, but at least we haven't dropped to the "brutal cold" yet. Our small community doesn't have any radio stations or local t.v., so we have no way of knowing what sort of turnout we're getting today. It's only 8:37 a.m. here right now.

I don't usually have to show photo I.D. here, but that's because in such a small community our faces serve as our I.D. LOL I'm sure when the volunteers don't recognize someone they ask for a photo ID.

I voted a week ago. You could have too. Anyone who believes there is the slightest possibility that they may not be able to get to the polls on time needs to apply for an absentee ballot. Indeed, I think it is imperative that people vote at least a week before the election since that way they cannot be swayed by exit polls or these horrid last minute smear commercials that I have been seeing the last couple of days.

I know I could have gotten an absentee ballot, but I choose not to. I don't trust the U.S. mail. As a matter of fact, Fox news had interviewed someone last week who was saying that if you do vote by mail, there are some things you should know. One thing that shocked me, was when this person said that absentee ballots are not counted unless the election is so close that they need to use them to determine a winner. The other thing he said was that if you vote by mail, you'd better track it.

People who are swayed by exit polls, or last minute commercials, are not serious voters. When one knows the issues and the candidates, there should be no flip-flopping when election day comes.

Where we live, I don't have to worry about not being able to get to the voting booth on election day. I can get there by driving, by snowmachine, by cross-country skis, and even a long hike if I have to.

Early voting doesn't have to be vote by mail. You can vote at the town/city hall as well as othe rplaces in larger cities.

Then why on earth would Free Republic refuse to post exit polling data? Wouldn't such a policy assume that we could be swayed by these polls?

I forgot that you can do that in the "other world". LOL That's what we call those cities large enough to have such things. We don't have a town/city hall here. Heck, we don't even have any local government. No mayor, no police department, etc. If I did live in the other world, I would have liked to take advantage of early voting in person. :)

I don't know, but they're being very aggresive about preventing anything that SMELLS like an exit poll. I posted a spoof EXIT POLL vanity, where I said that most recent polls show Washington winning over Dallas 22-19. It was snuffed inside of three posts - which was actually about two posts slower than I anticipated.

CD, I've been gone all morning. Did someone answer your question already?

Rove warned about phony exit polls used to suppress the R voters...past history, you know...

Early on in this thread the Admin Moderator gave a very good explanation of why this decision was made. I think their explanation would answer your questions.

That's as may be, but they still cast serious votes. I doubt that they're frequent FR visitors, though.

Yup...political ads are a waste of time for me...I'm a "STRAIGHT R" voter. Let's put it this way: if the choice for POTUS was between an axe-murdering gay pedophile (R) and Hillary Clinton (D), the axe-murdering gay pedophile gets my vote!
