" Because I am not afraid of them. "

I'm not afraid of maggots, either -- but I don't care to insist on discussing them....

(And maggots, at least, have the saving grace of performing a useful function...)

What the heck are we afraid of? The MSM? Ha!

Despite threads and posts of the death of the power of the MSM, yes there is fear on FR of the MSM.

...some on FR when they see the fraudulent drive bu media exit polls, they will still panic and wail like chicken littles.

I have more respect for my fellow freepers than that.

Should Free Republic be free to discuss exit polling data?

The data is not meant for release prior to polls closing. Any publication of such means it was leaked.

And IMO it is highly unethical to provide a mechanism for releasing exit polls while the actual polls are still open.

Just to clarify I did not write the part about this being censorship. I only posted the suggestion that if mcjordansc felt that way he could suggest another site where the data was available if Freepers want it.

I'm perfectly willing to tease the mods (heck its practically a tradition :) ) but this is a serious decision and I'm sure they didn't make it lightly. If they want to avoid posting exit polls I respect that.

It probably wont matter anyway since the information will be quarantined behind sealed doors until 5 PM Eastern.

In our brave new schools, Johnny can't say the pledge, but he can recite the Quran. Yup, the same court that found the phrase "under God" unconstitutional now endorses Islamic catechism in public school.

Good grief...is that true? Where is this allowed?

Thank you.

I didn't look forward to arguing with people over this again.

Count votes, not polls.

don't "get" this whole early voting thing.

I don't know about elsewhere but, here in Texas, there are many folks who work on the 3 days on 4 days off, 12 hours schedual. Many of these are 6 am. to 6 pm., leaving little time for them to vote. I like it because it gives me time to vote during multiple work days or the weekends. Voting on a single day DOES disenfranchise many people who would normally vote.

The exit polls were wildly wrong in 2004. Why should we publicize them in '06?

BECAUSE they were so wildly wrong is the reason we SHOULD discuss them!!!

People are going to hear the exit polling data all day long from radio stations and web sites. At least here we could put it into perspective. But if we refuse to discuss the exit polls, while they are being discussed on local radio and TV, then we are not allowing the people here to put it into perspective.

If we don't discuss it, then its not going to be discussed. We should discuss them. We should be ready to remind people of how innaccurate they were before and how we should not be discouraged.

But apparently we will have to keep all that bottled up until after the exit polls have had their desired effect of discouraging Republicans from voting.

It's too bad Free Republic has taken this stand. Now we will hear the exit polls, but we will have no where to go to warn people to ignore them, we will have no where to go to tell people that what they have heard is baloney.

IMO it is a Sad day at Free Republic.

My daughter stood in line over two hours to vote in Denver. There were no where near enough voting machines. She would have stood there till the last dog died...or whatever. She was going to vote.

She voted early this year in her new county. Right there at the Rec Center near her home.

She votes REPUBLICAN every time!
