The latest polls show a tilt to the Republicans, noted political strategist Dick Morris tells NewsMax exclusively.
Morris made the following observations late Sunday:
The Republicans will lose the House.
The Republicans will likely keep the Senate.
The GOP now has a lock on Tennessee, and four other states remain in contention: Montana, Missouri, Virginia and Rhode Island. The Democrats have to win all four to get control of the Senate. Morris says that is highly unlikely.
The latest voter trends suggest the Republicans may not face disaster. The most recent Pew poll has the generic Democratic vote up just 4 points over the Republican vote. Morris says the GOP has been closing an 8 to 9 point gap in the past week.
But Morris says other developments may help the Republicans, including the verdict against Saddam Hussein.
Morris indicates polling over the weekend will show if the GOP may be rebounding even more just a day before Election Day.
Stay tuned . . .
Said he stills leans to Reps losing the House. They retain the Senate.
Allen's will be a very close race but he's hesitantly giving the slight edge to Allen on Rep GOTV.
Burns has he momentum in Montana.
Thinks Steele will just barely lose.
Corker wins.
Missouri comes down to turnout.
No decisive opinion on Chafee yet.
Left open the possibility shifting toward one party or another hasn't finished jus yet, so this is still flexible.
These were Barone's positions, not mine by the way. But it's worth noting Barone has been steadily and slowly coming more towards the Rep side, so he evidently believes Mo is on the right.
From your keyboard to God's ears...
I think DeWine will lose. But only GOP loss. The dims will go crazy!
They're already crazy. ;)
A week ago, Barone said the Senate was going dimocrat. I don't think so.
This little piggy went to market...
This little piggy stayed home...
This little piggy had roast beef...
This little piggy had none...
This little piggy went wee wee wee, all the way home!!!
I think Allen will definitely win here in Virginia! He was a great Governor for Virginia and people here know that. Webb has run some sleazy ads and has tried along with his buddies in the media, to distort Allen's record.
I don't think Allen has ever lost an election!
That lower picture cracks me up everytime I see it.
Yes, yes, YES! This is my own observation, exactly! How can he be such an interesting analyst, and have had such a successful career as a campaign pollster and strategist and end up so wrong in his conclusions? This happens again and again with him. Quite the puzzle.
The polls have all been so poorly performed that they're of almost no value anyway...so I don't really care what they "indicate".
i thought things were starting to look good until Dick Morris opened his mouth...
Probably true. CNN and MSNBC didn't even bother reporting the Hussein verdict.
That is shameful.
Yeah, well, the house deals with impeachment, and the GOP in the House has been tougher about border security than the whole Senate. There's a lot of issues worth trying to keep the both Houses of Congress. I'd like to see more GOP votes in the Senate and the House.
The Republicans will retail control of the House and the Senate. You heard it here.
The Republicans will retain control of the House and the Senate. You heard it here.
MSNBC was continuing their telethon to rid the country of the disease known as "the Republican majority", and CNN was trying to answer the question "Will the violence in Iraq influence the vote on Tuesday?"
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Are you serious?
