Democrats playing catch-up to Republicans in courting religious voters have found a secret weapon: nuns.
In Ohio and Michigan, Democrats have recruited nearly two dozen nuns in each state to work phone banks. In Ohio, the nuns have made calls for the campaign for governor of Representative Ted Strickland and the Senate campaign of Representative Sherrod Brown.

Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence
Hi, NYer!
Although the Times is of questionable veracity, I thought this might interest you.
I'll be impressed when I hear they're using Amish for their campaigns. The nuns don't have any aversion to using phones, but the Amish do, and when the Amish are making calls for them I'll take notice. Next thing you know it will be carrier pigeons!

What kind of meat does the Pope eat?
When the "sisters of perpetual indulgence" first burst on the SF scene, that's when we began to see liberal Catholic nuns begin activizing in major ways for the socialists. The liberal nuns didn't care who saw them doing what they did anymore than the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence cared. Not long later, stories began popping out about Catholic Priest(s) molestations of children.
The world is a show of symbolic meaning vis a vis communication and signals to and between the fascists.
I remember how the left went nuts when George Bush said that Jesus was "influential" to him. But the leftists use religion all the time. Every leftist politician more or less says something like, "I know that Jesus, were he alive today, assuming he even existed, would be all for gay marriage, abortion under all circumstances, gun control, good relations with North Korea and Iran, raising the minimum wage to $40 an hour, sex between minors and adults as long as the relationship is 'loving', banning cars to save the environment..." Their wish list is always the same and they often use religious platitudes about "equality."
these must be those episcopal left wing nuns.
Does their 501(c)4 get a donationa?
We have a nun in our community who opened up a thrift store enterprise to fund her longing to help unwed mothers (and a few others, I'm sure). I'd not met her, hubby had. One day going into our doctor's office, I noticed one other car in the parking lot with a pro-Kerry bumper sticker and a couple of others which led me to believe the owner supported abortion.
This nun was the owner of that car, and I was struck dumb to realize she supported Kerry and was pro-abortion.
They are out there. In talking to her, she confirmed. Amazing.
Yep, you must be in California.
So nuns are working to elect baby killers?
Maybe they should do double duty and schedule abortions too.
This will not help when the majority of Catholics will equate Nuns with a stinging ruler upon the hand! Other faiths will put no more credibility on a Nun's political request than a cashier at McDonalds. Nothing against Nun's, but politics is not where Jesus would want them. There are suffering and sick people that need help!
LLS
and Harold Ford thought he had a lock on the senate because he was able to use a church as a prop.
Harold Forth thought he could speak religion and in a final act of hubris, thought he was a untouchable.
The Barack Obama came forward and said he was the other race based candidate.
Right back at you :-)
