BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq's prime minister on Saturday urged his countrymen to accept the impending verdict against Saddam Hussein without violence, then in the next breath declared the former dictator must get "what he deserves" with the decision that could send him to the gallows.

Statement by U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad on Verdicts Issuedby the Iraqi High Tribunal
Today is an important milestone for Iraq as the country takes another major step forward in the building of a free society based on the rule of law. The verdicts issued by the Iraqi High Tribunal against Saddam Hussein and the other seven defendants demonstrate the commitment of the Iraqi people to hold them accountable. The judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys in this case all showed courage in the face of intimidation. Their determination to pursue justice is a signal that the rule of law will prevail in Iraq despite the difficult situation that the country now faces. A former dictator feared by millions, who killed his own citizens without mercy or justice, who waged wars against neighboring countries, has been brought to trial in his own country held accountable in a court of law with ordinary citizens bearing witness. Although the Iraqis may face difficult days in the coming weeks, closing the book on Saddam and his regime is an opportunity to unite and build a better future. As the Iraqi people move forward, the United States will support them in their efforts to build a just and democratic society. -30-
Shaking head. Well I am off to my part time job, catch you all later.
I wonder how tall the tallest tree in Iraq is?
The aspirin worked, my headache is gone, I'm delighted by this historic news, and so, now, I am off to beddy byes. Goodnight, my friend. :-)
"Lapidation first - then defenestration."
One good toss deserves another.
Like I said before -- if she wants to get people to watch her, she's gotta get the Lucite desk with the light shining on her legs like Mary Hart used to have on Entertainment Tonight.
A trebuchet ride does have a certain appeal...
I go nite nite now...
Funny how it happened. My girl friend borrowed a skirt of mine, then accidentally spilled some bleach on it.
The big white spot, right in front, was approximately shaped like a shmoo. So, with my new sewing machine, I cut out a shmoo of complementary fabric and sewed it on as an applique.
Of course, it was too ugly to ever wear again, but it made her feel better that I could "salvage" it. Then, we liked the shmoo itself so much, that I made another one and cut out two them, then sewed them together and stuffed it.
Then she wanted one, so I made another one - and so on and so on. I think I made 5 or 6!
Then we made up our own "animal" called a "fick" - a cross between the "fink" that we called everyone back then and the naughty word we couldn't say. It wasn't stuffable, tho, just a line drawing cartoon. Bet I could still draw one if I thought about it. Come to think of it, it was sort of a shmoo with front legs and kind of looked like a frog.
Is it still happy gunfire? Hope so, haven't heard anything from Fox News to the contrary. They're reporting some gunfire but that the curfew is holdingup and there aren't any people on the streets.
Sleep well - Saddam won't. ;-)
You should have that same picture but with the New Orleans can guy carrying the tray.
I have heard them say there has been some violence.
