Major electrical power failure affects Western Europe

All Western Europe touched by the electric breakdown
PARIS - All Western Europe was struck Saturday evening by electric breakdowns related to an important failure of the German grid system of electricity, indicated in the night of Saturday to Sunday the Grid system of French electricity RTE.

"Important" is used in a totally different context in Europe. We would say "critical".
As for being "private" (deprived), it makes for an interesting verbal puzzle...

I was on the B-53 bus in the middle of Forest Park apparently because I was completely clueless. When I got home, about 40 minutes later, I asked by sister "did we blow a fuse", she said, "The block blew a fuse, the whole city blew a fuse, the whole Northeast blew a fuse." We listened to the news on a transistor radio for a while and went to bed.
