MILLIONS MARCH AGAINST CHAVEZ IN VENEZUELA
http://www.publiuspundit.com/?p=3026 ^ | 11/4/06 | Publius Pundit

Posted on 11/04/2006 2:49:44 PM PST by Timeout

This story might speak for itself through its photos - what looks like millions of people - have marched across the 15-mile length of Caracas, from shantytown outskirt to big city skyscrapers to shantytown outskirt, on behalf of Manuel Rosales, who’s destroying Hugo Chavez at the polls. At long last, democracy may be coming to Venezuela, assuming no cheating goes on in the electronic voting machinery. Today, it becomes harder for that to happen. This is one heck of a massive rally.

Good catch! That article is a must read:

In the meanwhile Rosales goes from strength to strength while Chavez goes from fiasco to fiasco. My sister in law, who is a civil servant, tells me that they are being forced to go to political events. The checks that Chavez gave to public employees in Teresa Carreño’s event a few days ago were not to be cashed, it was just for the cameras. The equivalent of two months salary will be paid into their accounts, but that doesn’t make great populist moments on TV, does it? She also said that there’s much nervousness and anxiety within chavismo. Revolutionary bosses know they are doing badly, they have seen the rallies, they have sent their filming crews, something impossible for other media networks to do in Chavez’s rallies. Yet their response is the crassest ever, talk about ‘the devil’ will get them nowhere in a country ravaged by abject poverty, unemployment, blackouts, lack of security, etc.

... Chavez traditionally projects the evil he commits to the enemy who does not commit it – that is his signature and character.....

Very 'clintonian'. Hitlery is an EXPERT at this, as is the scumbag.

I have a Venezuelan neighbor (now a citizen, his wife native to America) who has had his mom living with them for the last two years because they are afraid for her to return to her homeland.

"Looks kinda wimpy though..."

At this point in history, I think we should be thrilled to get even this! The militants are indeed intensely frightening to even their own fellow Muslims!!!

I think this size demonstration is well nigh unto miraculous, myself! We have whole nations in Europe cowering in fear of these murderous militant bastards!!!

Hugo Chavez is NOTHING, compared to the shadowy comings and goings of radical, bloodthirsty beheaders amongst these Muslim thugs!!! They make Al Capone look like a sissy!!! These fiends want nuclear bombs to spread fear!!!

May God bless these courageous Turkish Muslims for marching and demonstrating like this. Muslims "moderates," even here in the relative safety of America don't seem to have even the courage to "speak out" and condemn the acts of these hideous militant monsters!!!

God knows the gutless Democrats haven't got the guts to stand up to their militancy and malicious mischeif in the least!!! Peace at ANY price, ya know... pass me another bong and a peace symbol, will ya Kerry??? Phhhhhhhhhht!!!

That was a thoughtful quote you posted Alia. I think I've been noticing some of that. But based upon what I'm seeing now I think that Chavez is about to get angry. And he has guns. This guy could turn out to be something genuinely evil if he sees it slipping away from him. He represents the hope of the Left in Latin America. They are not so easily swayed by compassionate pleas to respect democracy. I know the Latin American Left too well to believe this is just going to be another one of those elections. We are already seeing some VERY tough rhetoric from Chavez and his regime. I do not think this bodes well for a smooth transition.

Surely you don't expect the same socialist Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms who love Daniel Ortega and the Sandanistas to report anything negative about their latest hero, Hugo Chavez?

Oh yikes, I feel confident that if Jimmy Carter is there, it will be screwed up. Can't he just retire someplace and stay there?

Still, most people have not seen one million, much less millions of people grouped together. There are obviously many, many people in the pictures, but the article should be accurate. Most polls are showing Chavez in the lead, too.

Lest it is not understood, this IS NOT an endorsement for Chavez, but simply an attempt at reality. That people are protesting Chavez, good. Is Chavez' opposition so great that he will DEFINITELY lose, no. The article seems to overinflate things, that is all.

This is something the media does not care about us knowing. There were all agog when we was at the UN. In their eyes he's a hero.

President Hugo Chavez defended a top official caught on tape threatening to fire state employees who oppose the Venezuelan leader, suggesting those who do not like his leftist policies should go somewhere else, like Miami.

This guy was fired for telling the truth, basically. Old-Style Communism is dead. It is too "in yo face", and turns off the ones who are smart enough.

The future of Communism is Chinese-style. An officially left-leaning government that keeps its citizens under control, under their thumb, and dominated by doping them up on freedom, sports/entertainment, and misinformation. Who does that sound like?

This style of tyranny looks far less dangerous to the outsider, and it will likely distract attention from the masses of asses in outer countries, especially this one. If this current Venezuelan government (Or Castro, for that matter) attracts so much positivity from the Amerikkan Left, what would a "Nice Guy" do for the Communist PR? Put America to sleep, and they will spread like wildfire.

How odd. It's not in any of our mainstream papers. How can this be?! /sarcasm

Please! The self-serving sycophants of Marxism in our American MSM? Even as sarcasm your question borders on the ridiculous.

(No offense to you. Just fresh out of humor when it comes to the press.)

Now about those marches in Venezuela ... outstanding! An amazing show of citizen activism.

I just saw a headline that Chavez was considering not selling oil to the U.S. I trust your experience and knowledge of Latin Americans, and Chavez. The world really did shift on 9-11. And the evil, lurking in the mud around the world, did hatch out.

This guy could turn out to be something genuinely evil if he sees it slipping away from him.

Like our U.S. Democrats.

Yes, he is. Chavez' antics put me so very much in mind of Saddam's in the courtroom.

Then again - there's this possibility.

For everyone brave enough to publicly support, let alone publicly protest this maniacal puffaroon, how many are quietly keeping their intent to vote him out close to their vest, to avoid the very real possibility of violence on themselves now or, in the event Chavez wins, in retributions?

It takes a lot of guts to publicly protest a dictator (No need for anyone to inform me he was elected - s skunk by any other name still stinks)
