That was a thoughtful quote you posted Alia. I think I've been noticing some of that. But based upon what I'm seeing now I think that Chavez is about to get angry. And he has guns. This guy could turn out to be something genuinely evil if he sees it slipping away from him. He represents the hope of the Left in Latin America. They are not so easily swayed by compassionate pleas to respect democracy. I know the Latin American Left too well to believe this is just going to be another one of those elections. We are already seeing some VERY tough rhetoric from Chavez and his regime. I do not think this bodes well for a smooth transition.
Surely you don't expect the same socialist Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms who love Daniel Ortega and the Sandanistas to report anything negative about their latest hero, Hugo Chavez?

Lest it is not understood, this IS NOT an endorsement for Chavez, but simply an attempt at reality. That people are protesting Chavez, good. Is Chavez' opposition so great that he will DEFINITELY lose, no. The article seems to overinflate things, that is all.

For everyone brave enough to publicly support, let alone publicly protest this maniacal puffaroon, how many are quietly keeping their intent to vote him out close to their vest, to avoid the very real possibility of violence on themselves now or, in the event Chavez wins, in retributions?
