Anybody got a link to Tradesports or the Irish books? As I recall, they hit the 2004 election results pretty well.

Heck, Susan Estrich was sober and giddy. That didn't last long! (Thank God)

Well, I think we will squeak this (losing seats but not control)...but overwhelming is not going to happen. It will be ugly.
(I live in Washington State...I have experience with this kind of thing. ;-) )

Don't know how good the info is from your link, but we do have to assume that the guys at Weekly Standard have pretty good sources who would not seek to minimize the republicans' chances, so I too am getting very nervous, or at least "cautiously pessimistic".
The news everywhere seems to be bad, although put in context for a midterm election in the sixth year of a presidency, it's actually pretty good news for Bush, historically speaking. Just not so great for the American people who can look forward to a veritable lollapalooza of Quasi-semi-sorta Impeachment Hearings, blocked judicial appts, & general obstructionism & mischief making ad nauseum under LaLaPelosi for the next 2 yrs.
We all just have to pray that everybody is as dishonest as I am when speaking to pollsters! And pray that the "base" allegedly staying home in order to "teach those rinos a lesson" realize what the stakes are, find their moral consciences and vote on Tues.

the movie bombed because it had a anti war theme that ticked off the crowd that would have gone. clint has become a Hollywood liberal in his old age.

Neither is the Bush assassination movie doing well. I guess it's not a Democrat year.

I expect the Republicans will lose some seats, but hold both majorities.

This is good, lets hope a lot of them think like this. Around here, the types of Dems that are elected, like Indys mayor, made Indy a murder capitol, reflects Dem voters. I will always say that they get into the prez election, but they don't care alot about mid terms. A lot of them don't even know the local candidates. What you said is what I believe, screw the beltway folks, they have no idea of middle America.

Isn't that something? Kerry, making an appearance in support of Angelides who is so far behind Ah-nuld that the race is over, makes the dumbest most insulting statement of the year. Is Kerry really that dumb? Since I've seen no evidence to the contrary, I have to answer YES!

Well, then after we lose, we will give you the appropriate kudos.
But there is no way on the face of the planet I'm going to concede defeat before we're defeated. And there is definitely room for cautious optimism.

"The confused whining from the media will be pricelss."Maybe they'll say, "We were right before we were wrong" and that the public "misinterpreted" their predictions.
Then they'll shower us with the "many have said" articles -- "many have said" polling irregularities account for Republican victory, "many have said" Republican resistance to simplified ballots account for their victory, "many have said" (fill in the blank).
To: LibLieSlayer
Well...that sounds like stupid strategery.
You should do LOTS of business with them so they have less time and money to spend on politics! ;-)

I'm an optimist. The Democrats have given voters NO reason for trusting them with running the country. And they have one major liability: John F. Kerry. The Drive Bys and Cut And Republicans have proclaimed its all over. Now if that was true, the Democrats wouldn't be hedging their bets; they would be sounding and acting like winners.

But haven't you heard of the obscure evangelical preacher in Colorado embroiled in a gay sex scandal? (Before yesterday I'd never heard of him either) It's really going to depress the Republican vote! In fact, if another tsunami hits Indonesia, it's really going to depress the Republican vote!

Dims always have smaller turnout at the midterms. If the weather is bad, they will turn out at even lower numbers. I wish there was one huge storm system that would cover 90% of the country, but that seems unlikely.

Here's a quote from this article"
"So what's it all mean? In the tied races, the Republican will win. In the close races, the Republican will win. It adds up to...But wait, there's more! ...And in Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum is in striking distance."
You just bet he is!!! The gound is almost covered here in Pennsylvania with people working to keep this good man in the U.S. Senate. And it's NOT over until it's over!!!!
