Don't think for a moment that Rumsfeld is truly popular in the military with people who know what's going on.

No doubt about it he's a likable guy and all the troops appreciate his public support, but that doesn't mean that his policies or tactics are appreciated within the military itself.

Rumsfeld has tried to fight this war on the cheap instead of really going in and getting it done right. The politics have hampered the military's ability to do its job right and that starts at the highest levels.

Now do I think that the Dems have anyone at all who could do better?

No.

But does that mean that Rumsfeld is right and infallible?

Not a chance.

Stars and Stripes are not truly 'military' publications but are the best 'insider' papers available.

There is no doubt that there is an anti administration slant in their articles.

Gannett owns all these guys. The Army Times has its headquarters not far from my home ~ these guys probably suck latte while eating quiche with Washington Post geeks.

Their local address is: ARMY TIMES PUBLISHING COMPANY 6883 Commercial Dr. Springfield, VA 22159 Phone: (703) 750-9000 Fax: (703) 750-8129

The ridiculous and misleading thing about them is they imply they are connected to our military when in reality they are a bunch of hacks.

Navy Times was something I might read if I found a copy laying around, but I sure as hell wouldn't pay for it. What a load of crap.

I bet 90% of their newsstand sales were the issues with advancement results-people buying them to see their name in print.

Gannett owns those so called military papers as well as USA Today. It is practically as left wing as the New York Times.

Do these assholes think the readers will fail to notice the proximity of these editorials with the mid term elections?
