Last night at a political rally in Coeur D' Alene, Idaho, I asked Vice President Cheney to autograph a large print of the now famous "Dear Jon Carry" sign. You can view it at http://www.boundarygop.org/

Wow, the VP was in Hayden! That's a little out of the way, so very, very cool.

Great pics and thanks for sharing.

Ah, Coeur D'Alene, my old stompin' grounds! Beautiful city.

How cool that you got VP Cheney to autograph it for you. Did he joke about Kerry in his remarks?

Yes he did. I shouted "Hey Dick" and he looked over at me holding the sign, pointed and said "Now that's a sign". He went on to joke about "Carry".

Heh-heh, that's our good ol' Cheney!

I couldn't find the pic on your website, which is nice, BTW. Can you tell me the link to click?

I suspect the website is going to get quite a few hits over this...

You are apparently very active in politics in your state. I admire that--and I enjoyed the photos. Thanks for posting them.

Great photos.

I can't help but think HOWEVER...there is some poor junior Army officer pulling his/her hair out right now.

HEAR ME OUT BEFORE YOU START THE FLAMES FOLKS...but, to publicly demean a Senator is a violation of the UCMJ. These people "appear" to have violated that article and I have no doubt that the Army has had to assign someone to investigate the incident, whether there was any violation, and to recommend a course of action.

I also have little doubt that the most these FINE troops will get is a minor reprimand and a lot of free drinks. I feel bad for the investigating officer, who has to go through the motions...and he's the VP signing the photo. I love it.

That's why I wish that none of the parents would have mentioned that it was his/her son or daughter holding the sign. If you notice, the troops made sure that their names and insignias were covered. A dad, or two, is going to get in trouble from the kids.

Before posting, I talked with the commanding officer of the unit. He advised me that the DOD is considering it humor without intent to denigrate an elected official. Of course this could always change. I personally believe we should be prepared to give these fine gentlemen all the cover we can in the event "someone" gets his nose out of joint. The Vice President was as high up the chain of command I could go.
