WASHINGTON - During a Vietnam-era run for Congress three decades ago, John Kerry said he opposed a volunteer Army because it would be dominated by the underprivileged, be less accountable and be more prone to "the perpetuation of war crimes."
(snip)
In 1972, as he ran for the House, he was less apologetic in his comments about the merits of a volunteer army. He declared in the questionnaire that he opposed the draft but considered a volunteer army "a greater anathema."
"I am convinced a volunteer army would be an army of the poor and the black and the brown," Kerry wrote. "We must not repeat the travesty of the inequities present during Vietnam. I also fear having a professional army that views the perpetuation of war crimes as simply 'doing its job.'
"Equally as important, a volunteer army with our present constitutional crisis takes accountability away from the president and put the people further from control over military activities," he wrote.

The weaker he grows politically relative to Her Heinous the more likely he is to release the Barret Report out of total desperation.
It's those southern racists, doncha know.
WOW! I need to send this to my son. He must have volunteered for the wrong army - he is white, college educated, morally grounded, loyal and devoted to serving his country.
Excellent find. In that picture he looks like an evil marionnette from "Team America".
Kennedy probably put pressure on him to apologize. To the degree that Kerry crumbles over this, Kennedy will take some damage IMO.
Drats! once again I miss Michael Barone on FOX & Friends saying "the democrats had to waterboard Kerry to get him to apologize."
It was already discussed this morning on WMAL - Andy and Grandy.
LOL. You sound quite "energized." Might you be part of that dreaded "base." He said it on Special Report yesterday. I don't know if they archive video though.
Steve Ducey suggests something I haven't heard elsewhere. That John Kerry issued his apology via the internet, and without a taped audio version, because he doesn't want a record of himself to be heard using the word "apologize" in 2008.
I knew Kerry's website apology was cowardly, no video, but I hadn't realized just how conniving it was.

"Now this is the law of the jungle,
As old and as true as the sky.
And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper,
But the wolf that shall break it must die.
"As the creeper girdles the tree trunk
So the law runneth forward and back:
'The strength of the pack is the wolf,
And the strength of the wolf is the pack.' "
-R. Kipling
Hillary! swiped at both Kerry and the President.

"We don't need to be refighting the 2004 election, as much as President Bush would like that to happen," Clinton said. "What Senator Kerry said was inappropriate."
Kerry's credibility, zero.
He got 4 D's at Yale? Gee, who did he know to get in? A "D" in Geology (Rocks for Jocks) is like getting an F in reciting the alphabet correctly in High School.
I hadn't thought of that either, but I will bet you dollars to donuts that we won't be hearing anything from John Kerry in 08.
BTTT

Sounds racist to me.
