LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - A jury Wednesday found an Ethiopian immigrant guilty of the genital mutilation of his 2-year-old daughter in what was believed to be the first criminal case in the United States involving the ancient African tradition.
Khalid Adem, 30, was convicted of aggravated battery and cruelty to children. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Prosecutors said Adem used scissors to remove his daughters clitoris in his familys Atlanta-area apartment in 2001. The childs mother, Fortunate Adem, said she did not discover it until more than a year later.

Well, it seems odd to a westerner that a Mom might not notice it, but I'd say that this is another example of how Islamic women are taught to find their own sexuality something to be ashamed of. Something not to look at.
My guess is this woman didn't look closely because she has it in her head that a proper Muslim wouldn't look at such a disgusting part of a lowly, animal like a female.
Islam treats women like animals, putrid, disgusting animals. Animals that should be hated, beaten, abused. Animals that are not worth anything.
Could be ... but it seems like you'd notice your child was bleeding, when you changed her diaper. Just my thoughts as an experienced diaper-changer :-).
"The 'mother' should be occupying..."
I agree. There is something fishy about a mother who doesn't notice this kind of mutilation for over a year and then it comes to light during a child custody case.
I agree. But, we also don't know what kind of money or family situation we have here. Did the Mother ever even change a diaper?? We don't know, so it is hard to assume she would have seen it.
-Did another family member change the diaper, one that agreed with such mutilation?
-Maybe the Mother DID see it, but was afraid of the beating she'd get if she said anything and then said something later, at a time when she felt safer?
-Maybe they were rich enough to have a maid that always did it and the Mother never saw the mutilation?
-Maybe the Mother did agree with it then and is using the issue now to get back in her divorce?
It really doesn't matter at this point. What matters is that we have a proper conviction and a precedent to use against other people who mutilate their children.
One baby step to outlawing much of Islam in the USA.
Too bad the child wasn't fortunate.

Heaven help us if we ever, out of the convenience of appeasement, begin to look upon this a normal.
Very true.
THE CULTURE MADE ME DO IT!
LIBERAL AND MSM THOUGHT PROCESS:
It is their culture to be perverts and abuse children. As such, anyone in the USA that believes writing about it FOR PROFIT without expressing outrage and disgust at the same time is just a redneck backwards hick that watches NASCAR!
Is there actually something in the Koran that commands this? If not, it is even more horrible if it is cultural. I can understand religious nuts taking the kool aid...but Holy Cow!
How do you really know for sure, that they are women???
They do it because of culture and tradition. Those are the same reasons why we circumcise boys in this country.
Every year in this country approximately 1.2 million boys have a normal, healthy, functional part of their genitals cut off without a valid medical indication.
What a monster. Time for a serious revisit to these laws to make them significantly more serious in effect. How about AUTOMATIC DEPORTATION BACK TO THEIR STONE-AGE HELL-HOLE...PERMANENTLY after the non-reduceable jail time was served?
If I were a parent who discovered that anybody even thought of doing something like this, I would be before a jury of my own...
Freakin savages!
I don’t believe you are correct. There is an issue of cleanliness in the matters of circumcision. Of course, its debatable.
As for female mutilation, it’s to take away any pleasure of sex. Of course, there’s NO DEBATE ON THAT MATTER.
There’s a BIG difference here.
