a bump and a ping
Thank you for your perseverence with this thread, Ian.
In the old days, an open tag carried to the next reply - that doesn't happen now, does it?
Kim Jong Il seems to be piping down as does Chavez, while Ahmadijad escalates his position.
They are all still at it
good question - i've never tried... i would guess it does not

INTERNET-HAGANAH.com: "UN SACRIFICIO POR LA CAUSA DE ALLAH" (ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Since we first reported on Hizballah's Latin American offspring, it appeared to be a strictly Venezuelan phenomenon. Since then, however, new shoots have sprung up in El Salvador and in Chiapas in southern Mexico. To say that these folks are not "real Hizballah" is true to a point. We are used to thinking of Hizballah as a strictly-controlled entity of Lebanese origin operating at the behest of the Iranian regime. It is possible that no one is more surprised than Hizballah Lebanon to learn that they have given rise to Latin American affiliates, but they have. If there is one thing Iran and Hizballah could use right now, it's operatives who are not Iranian, not Lebanese, not obviously Arab or Persian - people who are more likely to be able to travel below the radar. Guys like this (sans the bomb - we're sure the Revolutionary Guards can hook the brother up with something more effective when he gets to his final destination): There is no reason to think anything good will come from all this.") Thank you once again Ian!

"Germans set up task force against hooliganism"
31 October 2006
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Frankfurt (dpa) - Senior German football officials agreed Tuesday on a "task force" to fight hooliganism and racism in and around the country's stadiums.
The agreement between the heads of the German Football Federation (DFB) and German Football League (DFL) follows several incidents of fan violence and racist chants this season.
Although the World Cup in Germany this summer passed off largely peacefully, German football officials have been dismayed to see an increase in hooliganism this season."

Pakistan court acquits U.S. consulate car bomb convicts
Friend and Ally Update from Reuters, with thanks to DFS:
KARACHI (Reuters) - A Pakistani high court on Tuesday acquitted four Islamist militants who had been convicted of taking part in a suicide car bomb attack on the U.S. consulate in the southern city of Karachi in mid-2002, a defence lawyer said.
Twelve Pakistanis were killed and 43 people were injured in the attack. No consulate staff were killed.
An anti-terrorism court had sentenced the four suspected members of a shadowy militant group to either death or life imprisonment in 2003.
The government had sought capital punishment for all of them, but after an appeal hearing the high court decided instead on Tuesday to acquit them.
"The court ruled that the eyewitness accounts and evidence given by security officials was flawed and overturned the earlier sentences," Abdul Waheed Katpar, a defence lawyer, told Reuters.
The men were alleged to be members of the militant group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen al-Almi, a splinter faction of the outlawed Harkat-ul Mujahideen which is fighting Indian rule in the disputed Kashmir region.
