Laura Mansfield discloses that As Sahab will release a new Al Qaeda video tape soon. "According to banners placed on several Arabic language message boards, it appears that Al Qaeda's media production arm, As Sahab, will be releasing a new video tape 'soon.'
This tape does not show either Osama Bin Laden or Dr. Ayman al Zawahiri, but instead features an address by Abu Yahya al Libi."
UPDATE: ABC News reports that al Libi, who escaped from a US prison at Bagram, Afghanistan in 2005, will honor Umar Faruq, who was killed in Iraq by British troops in September. My thoughts are that we face an enemy that will kill innocent people. They murder to achieve their objectives, and they use propaganda in order to do two things. One: proclaim their might, and secondly to discourage us. Obviously the idea of their propaganda being displayed is something that bothers me in the sense that I don't want the American people to become discouraged. One: I want them to understand the stakes in this war; and, two, that we're going to win this war and not to be discouraged about the violence and the propaganda that they see. Obviously, some of the violence is not propaganda, but these tapes that they put out are all aimed at shaking our confidence.
Yup. Odds are we wounded/captured/killed at least one of Osama or Zawahiri based upon neither being in the reply video...the other perhaps being kept as underground as possible for operational security.
