WASHINGTON, Nov. 1, 2006 — Karl Rove, President Bush's top advisor, talked to ABC News' Ann Compton about the remarks Sen. John Kerry says were a botched joke about the president, and about Bush's future.
Here is a transcript of the conversation:
COMPTON: Senator John Kerry has made a statement about Iraq. Do you take him at his word that he was talking about the president and not the troops?
ROVE: I take him at his word when he insulted America's fighting forces. This is a habit that he's had over the years. He did it when he came back from Vietnam and there's no way that an individual looking at what he said, which is available on the Internet. Go on and look at yourself. Any American can. This guy was insulting America's troops by suggesting that if you were stupid you went to Iraq.
COMPTON: But he says it was a botched joke about the president?
ROVE: Then he ought to apologize for those Americans fighting on our behalf who thought it was an insult on them. I saw a number of them on the television this morning and it was very clear they took it as a personal insult. He ought to apologize to them and he cannot bring himself to do so this. This is his sort of like his elitist attitude about this. When he came back from Vietnam he slandered his comrades in arms from Vietnam in saying that in the mode of Genghis Khan they raped and pillaged their way across Vietnam. Now, he's suggesting only stupid people are willing to volunteer to fight in our military and go into harm's way in Iraq.

I'm not so sure about Condi- there'sa been talk of rifts in the ranks with her involved- I think Santorum/Rove would be a powerful force in the White house
If Santorem can't win re-election statewide, he certainly can't win a national election let alone a nomination.
Besides, America only elects Governors and Vice Presidents to the top job, at least since 1960.
It was interesting how the DOD reacted to our troops' poster saying in effect -
According to the DoD....it "appeared to be legit...and while we don't condone political statements from active duty personnel....we are amazed at the ingenuity of our troops"..
It really does show the ingenuity of our troops. Our troops were smarter than the media and shamed the media into finally reporting the arrogance of John Kerry and his contempt for our soldiers.
You can bet that if the troops put up an anti-Bush poster the media would be swarming all over them for an interview. But these Minnesota boys with their 'Halp Us Jon Kary' sign are too undeducated and uninformed to bother with.
But they are 'INGENUOUS" God love them and bless them.

Howie Carr had a guy call his show who said, "Kerry spent 3 months in Vietnam and supposedly got wounded how many times??? I spent 4 years in Vietnam and never got wounded once. So how smart is Kerry????"
