With the media machine of the political right attacking him over his remark about Americans "stuck in Iraq," and President Bush calling it "shameful," Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., on Tuesday reacted with fury and defiance.
"I'm not going to sit around and let these guys create a phony controversy," said the Democrats' 2004 presidential nominee, faulted for not firing back while the Swift Boat controversy burned his candidacy.
Kerry was in Seattle to do a fundraiser for Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., and afterward he sat down for a lengthy interview. The words that tumbled out of him were not the apology demanded by Bush.

I love that they keep saying Kerry isn't running for anything. Um...neither is President Bush but that hasn't stopped them from running against him.

This is no controversy at all. The indisputable fact is that the Democrat left has only disdain for our soldiers, sailors and airmen. It is demonstrated in all their actions -- from the Xlinton years to the attempted disenfranchisement of thousands of military votes in Florida in 2000. sKerry is only voicing what they all think. It was a Freudian slip for which we should be thankful. It perfectly illuminates what their attitude is toward those that protect freedom -- and illustrates that we put them in power at our risk.
