(Harold)Ford asks Kerry to apologize

MEMPHIS — Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. issued a statement this morning calling on U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to apologize for comments that Republicans including President Bush contend disparage U.S. troops in Iraq.

“Whatever the intent, Senator Kerry was wrong to say what he said,” Rep. Ford said. “He needs to apologize to our troops.”

But Rep. Ford, who served as an honorary co-chairman of Sen. Kerry’s 2004 failed presidential bid, said that the senator’s “words don’t alter the fact that the stay-the-course strategy pursued by President Bush and supported by Bob Corker isn’t working. We need a new direction in Iraq. I know how hard our troops work, and the sacrifices they make, for our freedoms. They deserve a plan for victory as good as they are, and as senator I intend to see they get one.”

John Kerry will always be known for shooting himself in the backside during Vietnam and the foot during 2006.

"HUGE NEWS!!!!!!!!
I would say so. Even CNN is carrying this story."

Not according to my hometown paper, Star Tribune (Mpls.), did not have the Kerry story at all. I could NOT find this story in today's paper. Nowhere to be found (I have canceled my subscription).

I wonder if my former paper will cover McCain's visit to Minnesota today.

Also, while channel surfing, rat boy extrordinaire, david gregory, had a long face this morning on MSNBC.

I saw that too. David Gregory is running out of comebacks and defenses now that he sees that Dems on the campaign trail are turning against Kerry.

My husband who is suffering from advanced cancer just hooted and hooted this morning over this story. For the first time in a month he said that he really was feeling good.

Boy, you got to figure, 1 to 2 million active and reserve military. Now how many extended family members they have that will be voting next week? J.F.Kerry in my opinion probably pissed them off royally. They will vote Pro Troop Support, ergo Republican and will become "Broken-Glass" about it.

There is no easy out for Kerry on this one, in fact it wouldn't surprise me if he sticks his foot further into this pile he has created.

I am waiting for Russert to announce he has him on this Sunday.

IF so I am going to need Glenn Beck's duck-tape.....

If the NSA Grand Jury comes out with some stuff before the 7th, the Dem's will be even crisper toast.

Yep, John Kerry still owes the Viet Nam viets an apology for words spoken 30 years ago. Why would he apologize to the Iraq vets now?

Don't count on it... it's been over 35 years and the Traitor still hasn't apologized to the Vietnam Vets.

I was watching CNN last night (morbid curiosity) and they were doing a story on Dems leading in the polls. In the video they showed Casey and Ford Jr. When was the last time a poll showed Ford in the lead?

New direction in Iraq to the Democrats means bring the troops home so we can spit on them.

Tell him we're all laughing along with him, and I'm sure I speak for all genuine FReepers when I say we're rooting for him, and laughter is good medicine, so enjoy!
