I believe he hates authority in general. His hatred of military authority seems blatant and obvious, both in Vietnam and in his political career.
Does he truly hate the rank and file soldiers individually? Probably not. Does he hate the decision making levels of the military? Probably yes. He sees all Generals as being a Westmoreland, all SecDefs as being a McNamara. It's the Vietnam/60's/Watergate syndrome that so many people his age still suffer from.
Does he truly respect today's volunteer force in general? Probably not. Don't forget last year's 'breaking down doors in the middle of the night' comment about our troops in Iraq.
Kerry's words just need to be repeated.
""Education -- if you make the most of it and you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well," said Kerry, a Massachusetts Democrat. "If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
"If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq -- and not the president who got us stuck there -- they're crazy," he added." John Kerry 2006
"They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, tape wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the country side of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country."
John Kerry 1971
Imus - in the pocket for the Dems. I hope his taxes go through the roof when his pets take Congress.
The Vietnam war was a lot different than the WOT. People were DRAFTED into that war. It's my understanding that Kerry volunteered because his draft number was coming up & this way he could have a choice of how he would have to serve. He didn't go because he liked the military at all. He was forced to go & he has tried ever since to use it to his advantage.
Frankly, I don't think that she's bright enough to be either a conservative or a lib. She latches onto emotional (for her) issues and beats them into the ground.
Even though Suzanne Malveaux said yesterday "she hoped this thing would end tomorrow". Smart statement, huh? LOLOL
There is no way to spin that remark that makes Kerry look good. A joke? About what? Education or the military?
Point being? Kerry should have just said, "I stumbled on making a bad joke off the cuff about the President's policy in Iraq. I completely, totally, and respectfully apologise to the brave men and women in our military that I offended by my mistake." But his big ego and arrogance won't let him admit he was wrong. He will stick to the "well, it's really about Bush" defence, and it will be a blessing to the GOP from now to the election. People will see him, lying and spinning, and it will be a reminder of what they know in their hearts...that Democrats go home and sneer at the little people the moment they are out of the camera's eye.
I agree, no one should be a Senator who feels the way he does about our troops!
Kerry was in service years before the lottery started. The statistics show that even though there was a draft the majority of those who served in nam were volunteers.
They actually did. Charles read it a little while ago. It will probably be repeated later somewhere. It's a convoluted mess. An obvious lie, but I bet they stayed up all night coming up with it.
A jerk interviewing a jerk.
I had heard President Bush's grades in college were better than Kerry's. We need for the public to know.
And where are the Congressional Democrats condemning Kerry's remarks?
Silence. Not one word.
It's been 2 days since Kerry's original remarks and not one single Democrat in the entire country has come out to support the troops. Not one.
How true, Imus has been agitating for the enemy for 3 years now, he is a punk.
Imus, the Kerry loving fake cowboy.
This guy is a total nut job that doesn't know when to SHUT UP! I am sure that in the near future we will see him walking the streets of Mass. in his undies, drool ozzing out of his mouth and mumbling to himself. He's a BASKET CASE !!!!!!!!!
Sorry, he isnt worried. He doesnt pay taxes. His ranch for the little poor sick kids is a non-profit.
You build a multi-million dollar ranch (a/k/a summer/vacation home), have a few kids out a couple weeks every year (he even admits they only have about 6 out at a time), then you make friends with powerful politicians, and you have an off instant tax write.
I doubt Imus is worried about taxes, regardless of who is in power.
